‘Pretty Little Liars’ Boss Says Spinoff Is ‘Definitely’ Possible, What About A ‘PLL’ Movie?

Pretty Little Liars big boss Marlene King is opening up about a possible spinoff once the Freeform show ends later this month. However, can fans also expect a movie to follow the popular drama series?

Amid much speculation over what’s to come when the evil Uber A is finally unmasked after seven seasons, King teased this week that it’s “definitely” possible that another PLL spinoff could soon hit screens. It might even star some of the show’s main cast amid much speculation Lucy Hale’s Aria could be about to be exposed during the grand finale.

“It’s not a for sure thing, but there’s some ideas swirling around out there,” King told Entertainment Tonight when asked about a Pretty Little Liars spinoff during a chat at ATX Television Festival.

King teased that she’d be ready and willing to continue on with the world she’s created over the past seven years.

“Everybody knows I love this world,” she continued of a possible PLL spinoff ahead of the much-anticipated Pretty Little Liars series finale airing on Freeform on June 27. “I love to play in this world and I love these characters, so it would be fun to keep a few of them moving forward in their lives.”

As fans of the popular drama will remember, the drama actually already spawned a spinoff series that debuted four years ago, but the show didn’t see much success.

The original PLL spinoff, Ravenswood, began airing on Freeform (which was then ABC Family) back in 2013 but was quickly canceled by the network after just one season.

Despite the original spinoff series suffering an early demise, Marlene teased to the outlet this week there’s actually a good chance that fans could see some of Ravenswood’s characters return to TV, though she wasn’t exactly too forthcoming when it came to giving away casting and storyline spoilers.

“Yeah,” she replied when asked by the outlet at the TV event if Ravenswood character could pop up in another possible Pretty Little Liars spinoff. “I’m not going to say just yet who those characters might be.”

Marlene’s big Pretty Little Liars spinoff teases come shortly after the main cast hinted that fans of the mystery could also see a movie head to the big screen once the show wraps later this month which could catch up with the girls five years in the future.

PLL actresses Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, and Sasha Pieterse all hinted back in May that there’s a possibility that fans of the show could see their characters on the big screen, but admitted that the show would need a little adjusting, as Uber A is set to be unveiled during the upcoming finale.

“How would you bring them back together? Once this mystery is done, it all depends on what the story would be,” Troian told the Hollywood Reporter when asked about the chances of a PLL movie last month.

“Would it just be about what they’re doing in life?” she continued, “and if that were the case, some time would have to pass and it would be very different.”

“Rosewood goes on, there’s always more to say,” Sasha then teased when asked about a possible Pretty Little Liars movie, coyly adding “never say never.”

Would you like to see a Pretty Little Liars spinoff or a movie once the series ends after the finale?
