Jenelle Evans Gets Candid About The Heroin Addiction That Made Her Give Up Jace

Fans of Teen Mom 2 know that Jenelle Evans has struggled with drug addiction for a good portion of her teens and early 20s. Although the reality star now claims she’s clean, she got candid about her drug use in her new book, Read Between the Lines: The Diary of a Teenage Mom, which is due out this July.

“My first trip was amazing. I won’t glamorize the drug by going into the long details of why people love it so damned much. Before I knew it, I was shooting up four or five times a day. I was hooked.

“The first thing I lost to the drug was my family. I disowned my mother and siblings and friends, but the truth is no one wants to talk to you when they suspect you’re a junkie.”

Jenelle Evans eventually signed over custody of her eldest son, Jace, to her mother, Barbara, not long after giving birth to him. This was partially due to the fact that she had trouble watching him properly because of her addiction to heroin and wanting to go out and party every night.

“It hurt my heart, made me sick to my soul that I couldn’t see my son. I filled that hateful void with more drugs. The drugs always made the pain go away. They didn’t turn on me or betray me. I guess heroin was my first steady, dependable lover. It gave me what I needed to live and I gave it my life. By this entry, heroin was the only thing I had in my life that loved me.”

Jenelle has also gotten real about the tumultuous relationship she’s had with the men in her life in her new book. According to Jenelle Evans, the fact that her father left her, her mother, and her siblings when she was just a little girl had a serious negative impact on her and made it much more difficult for her to have healthy relationships.

But it wasn’t just her father that made life more difficult for her. Jenelle Evans had many relationships that were fueled by drugs, including her relationship with her ex-husband, Courtland Rogers, who she was married to for a brief few months while the Teen Mom 2 cameras weren’t rolling. He admitted that their relationship was based on heroin, but he recently tweeted that he was still in love with Jenelle and wondered what their relationship could be like if they were both clean.

Jenelle Evans and her mother now have an incredibly contentious relationship because Jenelle believes that her mother should have allowed Jace to live with her permanently by now. Jenelle is now settled down with fiancé, David Eason, their daughter Ensley, and their other children from previous relationships. Although Jenelle believes their home is now stable, the court system isn’t exactly on her side, and she and her mother worked out a custody arrangement so that Jenelle always had a fixed day of the week to see her son.

Still, Jenelle Evans’ mother helped her through some of her addiction issues. She spills about how her mother, Barbara, helped her through some of her darkest times when she was still an addict.

“I ended up calling the last person in the world I expected to talk to, or expected would help me. My mother. For all of our problems, I owe her for what she did that day. I called her and told her what kind of trouble I was in, and how I needed help,” she wrote.

Things between Jenelle and her mother have gotten pretty ugly in recent days, as the cops were called to her home after Jenelle claimed her mother was holding Jace hostage.
