‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Takes Place In Egypt, Here’s What You Need To Know

Microsoft’s E3 2017 event saw the announcement of a brand new Assassin’s Creed Origins that takes the players back in time in Egypt. The game has been the subject of leaks quite a while back, so its setting has been known for quite some time. However, nothing could have prepared gamers for what’s coming for them.

The Protagonist

In Assassin’s Creed Origins, you play as Bayek, an “Egyptian sheriff” called Medjay. As the last Medjay, you protect the people from outside threats, as well as the ones that may originate from within the community. You go on a journey, the purpose of which you’ll discover as you play, claims Game Informer.

“We wanted to be accessible to a younger audience, but the story we wanted to tell was the story of a man in his 30s – almost mid-life for the time – and having to make some huge choices to change his life in order to change the world,” the creative director says.

As you play Origins, it becomes apparent how much more mature and determined Bayek is. He treats life with intensity, whether he’s happy or angry. He has abilities that are useful in your adventures, such as being able to control an arrow or having a bird’s eye view using his eagle companion.

The Story

As the title Assassin’s Creed Origins suggests, Bayek will go on an adventure that will shape the Brotherhood. For some reason, Bayek will have to set off to the game’s open world to encounter enemies of different kinds and explore areas that are central to the game’s story. The full story is a mystery for now, one that fans imagine being exciting.

The story is an important part in open world RPGs, where there are plenty of missions and activities to distract the players. Some of the best games today blend together great storytelling and awesome gameplay, so it is intriguing to see how Assassin’s Creed Origins will unfold the story of the Brotherhood’s origins.

The Gameplay

GameSpot describes Assassin’s Creed Origins to be a true open-world RPG where you are free to roam as you like. Deviating from the main quest is an effortless task as loads of side quests surround you.

The NPCs are particularly interesting as they have a life of their own, even the ones that are important in side quests. The publication tells the story of how your target may not even be alive when you get to him because a crocodile got to him first. Don’t worry, though, as the quest will be marked as completed still. Be sure to thank that crocodile.

However, the players who tried the game did not quite like the combat system. It veers away from the generic scripted fighting that RPGs have, but the execution is still shaky, noted Forbes.

Release Date

Assassin’s Creed Origins is arriving on October 27. The title will support 4K gaming as showcased on the newly unveiled Xbox One X, formerly known as Project Scorpio. It is currently available for pre-order on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PS4 Pro, on which it will presumably be upscaled as well.

You can watch the trailer below to see where your assassin will move around once the game is released. There will be lots of yellow and green and pyramids where Bayek can climb up and slide down.

More information is expected during Ubisoft’s E3 press conference on Monday at 4 p.m. EST. You can expect the Assassin’s Creed Origins by then along with other Ubisoft titles such as Far Cry 5, which was recently revealed to be set in America, The Crew 2, and South Park: The Fractured but Whole.
