Katy Perry Says She ‘Forgives’ Taylor Swift

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have had an ongoing feud for the past three years or so. But Katy Perry has finally announced that she is ready to end the feud between the two. During a promotional live-stream video for her upcoming “Witness World Wide,” Perry announced that she was ready to let go of the feud, saying that she forgives Swift and expects the same from her.

“I am ready to let it go!

“I forgive, I forgive, I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her.”

Perry was speaking to Arianna Huffington of Thrive Global Podcast when she declared her intention to patch up the three-year-long feud between herself and Swift, the Daily Mail reports. The 32-year-old “Swish Swish” singer said that it was time for the two to resolve their issues, pointing out that there are bigger problems in the world than the feud between the two. The 13-time Grammy Award nominee then proceeded to praise Swift.

“I think it’s time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world. You know what I’m saying? And I love her, and I want the best for her. And I think she’s a fantastic songwriter.”

Katy Perry pointed out that Taylor and herself, both representing the strong women of the world, could act as real role models for the rest of the world if they can put their differences aside. She declared that even though she and Taylor Swift may not quite see eye-to-eye, she wanted to find a common ground where the two can love and respect one another.

You can watch the snippet of the live-stream video where Katy talks about Taylor below.

“If we, both her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go like, ‘Yeah, well we can do this.’

“I don’t know. Like maybe I don’t agree with everything she does and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion.”

The long-time feud between the two pop icons was rehashed earlier this week when Taylor Swift decided to make her entire back catalog available for streaming the same day as the release of Katy Perry’s new record. Fans of the two superstars battled it out on social media over whether this move was orchestrated to affect the release of Katy’s fifth studio album, Witness.

Katy’s new studio album, of course, consists of the track “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj, which is believed to be a diss track targeting Taylor Swift.

The rivalry between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift is believed to have originated in 2014 when three of Taylor’s backup dancers quit her “Red Tour” to join Katy Perry’s “Prismatic World Tour.” Taylor seemed furious about the incident during her cover interview with Rolling Stone magazine later that year. She didn’t, of course, directly name Perry, but she made clear shots at her.

“She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”

Shortly after Taylor’s interview was published, Katy Perry tweeted a Mean Girls reference aimed at her.

“Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”
