Did Catelynn Lowell Shade Ryan Edwards For His Drug Problem?

Of all people, one would think Catelynn Lowell would be understanding about addiction issues, but it seems she’s just shaded Ryan Edwards via Instagram.

The Teen Mom OG dad was recently sent to rehab in order to recover from an alleged addiction to prescription pills, and an all out social media war has erupted.

Mysteriously, the drug problem was only acknowledged in real life after his ex, Maci Bookout, acknowledged it on a recent episode of Teen Mom OG. The young mom of three told her co-stars a few months ago that she was extremely worried about her ex and that she was concerned he might one day die from his drug addiction.

Then, all hell broke loose.

Firstly, Ryan’s mother, Jen Edwards acknowledged that there was “a story to tell” but said that she was going to tell it.

Then, it was discovered that he and fiancee, Mackenzie Standifer, recently got married in a secret ceremony before he was shipped off to the rehab facility.

Mackenzie Standifer was incredibly defensive toward those asking for comment about her fiance’s drug issues, saying she didn’t owe anyone any explanation and that people can assume whatever they want to about their lives.

Then, his ex, Dalis Connell, revealed more of the details about Ryan’s drug use to Radar Online.

“One of his friends was on pills and he tried it one night when we first started dating. He started taking those while I was in class. I ran track in college and would be gone all day and he was bored,” she told the news outlet.

Not pleased with the release of information, Mackenzie Standifer accused Dalis of taking pills as well and knowing the person who had provided the pills to Ryan.

So how does Catelynn Lowell fit into this? Well, the Teen Mom OG star recently posted a meme to her Instagram that told people not to do heroin.

She quantified underneath the image that it wasn’t meant for anyone in particular, that she was generally talking about the heroin epidemic in the United States. For Catelynn Lowell, substance abuse issues hit close to home, as her mother has suffered from addiction in the past. Her former stepfather (and father-in-law), Butch, has also been struggling with series addiction issues that she and her husband, Tyler Baltierra, have had to deal with most of their lives. In fact, Butch has relapsed a couple of times living with the pair and they have had to pick up the pieces and parent him through his drug issues.

In addition to viewers mocking Catelynn for using marijuana in the past to help with her postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter, Novalee Reign, others tried to tell Catelynn she was ignorant and it wasn’t that simple to just “quit” heroin.

Others told her she needed to admit that the meme was about Ryan Edwards and how shady it was of her to post such a meme.

“You are wrong for putting this out here btw! Ryan needs prayers!” one Instagram user scolded her.

Another wrote that if it isn’t about Ryan, then perhaps Catelynn could have posted it at a different time.

“If it’s not about anyone in particular, you could have waited for another time to post it and not right when Ryan, his family and Maci are in headlines about his drug use and rehab,” an Instagram user wrote to Catelynn.

Several other users, however, stuck up for Catelynn Lowell as they know she has been through a lot watching her family deal with substance abuse problems. She has also been to rehab herself to deal with her postpartum depression.
