‘Days Of Our Lives’: Greg Vaughan On Arianne Zucker’s Exit, Says Eric Brady Became ‘A Bit Of A Wuss’

Days Of Our Lives actor Greg Vaughan returned to reprise the role of Eric Brady a few months ago. Fans were shocked at his different appearance, and he seemed to have a different attitude as well. In an interview in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, he talked about his changed appearance and said Eric had become “a bit of a wuss” the last time he was in Salem. The actor also discussed Eric and Jennifer‘s (Melissa Reeves) relationship and Arianne Zucker leaving DOOL.

Fans were disappointed when it was revealed that Arianne Zucker was leaving Days Of Our Lives. She has played the role of Nicole Walker for years. At one time, Eric and Nicole were a hot item. However, she ended up getting together with Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian), and while drinking one night, Eric ended up killing his best friend in a car accident. To make things worse, Daniel and Nicole were about to be married. She has never forgiven him for it, even after Eric rescued her and baby Holly from Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Deimos Kiriakis (Vincent Irizarry). So, how does Vaughan feel about Zucker’s exit?

“Ari is a very talented actress. It’s good to step away and see what’s out there. Who knows? By leaving, maybe later the job will come back to her. It’s what happened to me.”

As for Eric and Jennifer’s relationship on Days Of Our Lives, the actor explained why the couple getting together makes sense. Not only are they both recovering addicts, but they were both grieving the loss of Daniel.

Before Greg Vaughan returned to DOOL, he admits being unhappy with the way Eric Brady was being portrayed on the NBC soap opera. As fans recall, Eric, a former priest, became an alcoholic. He had a lot of issues and nobody was able to talk any sense into him. However, the actor enjoys how Eric is being portrayed now that he is back in Salem.

“He had become a bit of a wuss. Now that he’s back, he has been changed by his time in prison. He has a stronger point of view.”

The first thing viewers noticed about Eric’s return was not his attitude, but his appearance. He was no longer the soft-spoken, clean-shaven guy that fans remembered. Instead, he had a full beard and a bit of a glare in his eyes. Vaughan had something to say about Eric’s new look.

“I think it’s really important for the character. It adds another layer to the changes he’s gone through. It’s almost like a tool I can use as an actor to show what Eric has been through.”

Right now on Days Of Our Lives, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) has been relying a lot on Eric. This is especially true when it comes to Nicole Walker. Stuck in a hospital bed, Brady couldn’t do much to help Nicole. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Martsolf explained that Brady Black trusts Eric completely.

However, there is a bit more drama coming up for the three characters. After being released from the hospital, Eric will stop by the house. Nicole is not happy to see the former priest and tells him not to visit in the future. This creates anxiety for Brady because he loves both Eric and Nicole. In the interview, Martsolf explained that he thinks it is time for Nicole to forgive Eric for his role in Daniel’s death.

What do you think of what Greg Vaughan had to say about Eric Brady on Days Of Our Lives? Do you think Nicole will ever forgive Eric for killing Daniel?
