Jill Duggar Celebrates Baby Shower, ‘Counting On’ Star Nearing Her Due Date

Jill Duggar is so close to being a second-time mom! The Counting On star is in the last stretch of her pregnancy and is expected to give birth to another boy this July. Yesterday, Jill celebrated her baby shower with friends and family at a local restaurant.

Jill Duggar’s Baby Sprinkle

The 26-year-old reality star and missionary shared the moment with her fans on Instagram. She wrote in the caption that her first baby shower was thrown by friends from church and family. We can spot Jill’s mom Michelle Duggar and older sister Jana among the guests, but other Counting On sisters are noticeably absent.

Jill Duggar called the event a “baby sprinkle” instead of a shower. According to WhatToExpect.com, a baby sprinkle is a smaller version of the traditional baby shower. It’s especially for moms who’ve had previous pregnancies before and already have most baby essentials. Jill already has two-year-old son Israel, so she might be planning to re-use his old clothes and toys for her coming baby.

“Instead of an extravagant event where a first-time mom is showered with gifts, it’s a modest, casual gathering where Mom gets sprinkled with just the necessities.”

Just this week, Jill and husband Derick Dillard excitedly announced that they will be naming their baby number two “Samuel Scott Dillard.”

Duggar Baby Showers

Based on the photo Jill posted, her baby sprinkle was small compared to other Duggar baby showers. Like their weddings, the Duggars like their baby showers to be big.

When Jessa Duggar had her baby shower for her second son Henry last January, it was attended by more than a hundred guests. According to Us Magazine, Jessa went all out with her literal “shower” theme. The venue was decked out with rain cloud decorations and light-colored flowers. Jessa added a meaningful touch to the party–she and husband Ben Seewald decided to donate all gifts to Loving Choices Pregnancy Center, a pro-life facility that provides counseling and other services for women with unplanned pregnancies.

Jill’s baby shower with first son Israel back in 2015 was a bit bigger, with more than 50 guests. People featured the event held at a local midwifery center in their hometown in Arkansas. Jill has trained to be a midwife before, although it is uncertain if she is still practicing.

Will Jill Duggar Have Another C-Section?

For her first son, Jill initially wanted to do a home birth. However, after 70 hours of labor, she had to forego all her plans and was rushed to the hospital for an emergency C-section. Her dramatic and scary experience was featured on 19 Kids and Counting, which was still on the air at the time.

This time around, the Duggar family has not announced which option Jill has decided to take. Although difficult, it is possible for women to have a vaginal birth after a cesarean delivery. Fans can expect Counting On to document this important event in Jill and Derick’s lives.

Other Duggar Baby News

This year, there will be three additional babies in the Duggar family. Jessa has already given birth to her second son Henry in February. Jill is due in July, while Anna, Josh Duggar’s wife, is also expecting her fifth child. Josh and Anna revealed that they are fixing their marriage and are pregnant again in March, but a due date is yet to be announced.

It’s also very possible for fans to hear more Duggar baby announcements very soon, as two Duggar girls–Jinger and Joy-Anna are newly married. In the Counting On Season 3 teaser, Jinger is seen being pressured by her sisters to take a pregnancy test. Despite persistent pregnancy rumors, Jinger is taking her time enjoying being a wife to Jeremy Vuolo. As for Joy-Anna, she and husband Austin have already expressed that they are excited to start a family.

Counting On Season 3 premieres this Monday, June 12 on TLC.
