Bella Thorne Defends Selena Gomez’s Wardrobe Malfunction

Selena Gomez has had the misfortune of making headlines for a wardrobe malfunction over the past few days. In a surprising turn of events it was actress Bella Thorne who decided to come to Selena’s assistance and shut the haters down.

What happened?

As Glamour reminds us, Selena Gomez wore a gorgeous sheer black dress while on a date night with The Weeknd in New York City earlier this week. While there was no denying how gorgeous Selena looked in the sheer black dress, she had paparazzi following her like a hungry dog trying to catch a bone. Unfortunately for Gomez, the paparazzi managed to snap a serious wardrobe malfunction picture. Truthfully, flashing lights and a sheer dress down mix well – as Selena has learned. The flashing lights of the paparazzi camera exposed both the front and backside of Gomez.

It didn’t take long for every single troll on the internet to crawl out of their deep, dark holes in order to criticize Selena for her wardrobe malfunction. Many slammed Gomez for not wearing a bra or proper underwear underneath the sheer dress. Some even referred to what was exposed as “disgusting.”

Bella Thorne shut down the troll

Glamour notes that no one should have said anything as body shaming women is a huge and disgusting problem. And, it turned out none other than Bella Thorne felt the same way. Bella Thorne caught wind of a troll Instagram account called “anti Selena Gomez” that appears to take great pleasure at slamming Gomez any chance it gets.

The troll Instagram account shared the picture of Selena’s wardrobe malfunction with a caption that sarcastically called Gomez “classy.” The caption also mentioned that they “thought” Selena was “trying to be sexy” for her date with The Weeknd. Thorne, being no stranger to wardrobe malfunctions and trolls herself, quickly shut down the troll.

“That’s not her fault that paps are shooting her on a date. It’s also not her fault that there’s a flash. It’s really not fair to say that.”

Thorne commented on the fact that people shouldn’t judge Selena for wanting to look nice on her date with The Weeknd. Thorne also noted that the dress was only see-through in the picture because of the flash on the camera, and that wasn’t Selena’s fault.

The troll clapped back

The troll Selena Gomez account snapped a screenshot of Bella Thorne’s comment defending the wardrobe malfunction. It’s possible the troll was just wanting to draw attention to the fact that Bella Thorne took the time to comment on their post, or it is possible the troll just wanted a chance to clap back at the comment Bella Thorne had made. The troll claimed that neither the paparazzi or the flash of the camera were to blame for the wardrobe malfunction.

“…she could wear a bra…”

In an attempt to clap back at Bella Thorne, the troll noted at the beginning and end of the caption of the screenshot that Selena Gomez had no one to blame but herself for the wardrobe malfunction.

A quick glance at the profile of this troll Instagram account reveals that Bella Thorne isn’t the first celebrity to attempt to shut down this troll only to be clapped back. Madison Beer, Miranda Kerr, Peyton List, and even Selena Gomez’s mother have all commented on something this troll has shared at one time or another. Given the fact that the account has noted the dates on which these comments by various celebrities were made, one could argue it is more attention seeking than anything.
