‘Crysis 3’ Release Date Announced Along With New Video Series

Crysis 3 will be releasing on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on February 19 in North America, EA and Crytek announced today. If you’re planning on playing it on PC, you might want to start saving money back for a new video card right about now.

To go along with the Crysis 3 release date announcement, EA also revealed that film director Albert Hughes, who you may know as the director of The Book of Eli, worked on a series of in-engine promotional videos called “The Seven Wonders of Crysis 3.”

The video series, of which there will be seven (go figure!), is being to put together to show players their enemies, the weapons they’ll be using to kill their enemies, and the wildlife-infested world of New York City that you’ll be killing enemies in.

The first of the videos will be debuting online next week, EA says. In the meantime, the publisher released a teaser trailer which you can see for yourself at the bottom of this post.

Set in 2047, Crysis 3 takes place in a vision of New York City overrun by a jungle. The cause of the city’s dramatic makeover is a Nanodome, a structure put in place by the Cell Corporation. Players will once again be put in the shoes of Prophet as he works to uncover Cell Corporation’s plans.

Recently, EA and Crytek revealed the minimum and recommended requirements for playing Crysis 3 on the PC and, perhaps unsurprisingly given the series’ pedigree, playing it on the highest possible settings will take quite powerful hardware. If you’re capable of running it on its highest settings, you’re sure to be in for a visual treat.

Without further ado, here is the Seven Wonders of Crysis 3 teaser trailer.
