Anderson Cooper Says He Rarely Washes His Jeans

Anderson Cooper‘s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, might have had her own line of jeans, but her son isn’t as passionate about his own pants..

According to TODAY, Cooper revealed Thursday on his nationally syndicated television show, Anderson Live, that he wears the same pair of jeans every day and rarely washes them.

Cooper said this to What Not To Wear co-host Stacy London:

“These are TV clothes, these are not my actual real clothes. In my real life, I wear a T-shirt, grey or white, same pair of jeans. Literally, the same pair of jeans every day.”

Cooper also revealed that he has an incredibly unusual way of cleaning his jeans … when he actually decides that they need it. He said:

“So the times I’ve washed my jeans, maybe twice in six months. The times I’ve done it, I’ve worn them and walked into my shower with them and put some soap on them and then air-dried them. Isn’t that how you’re supposed to do it?”

Cooper then revealed that he buys his jeans at the New York store APC. This is where he was told by the store clerk, that he shouldn’t wash the pricey pair of jeans very often.

London said that going six months without washing jeans was “a little long,” so she gave Cooper advice on how to “maintain your denim, the integrity of your denim.” She told Cooper that jeans should always be washed in cold water without soap and air-dried.

Cooper then confessed:

“I don’t know what that means. When did jeans have ‘integrity’? I want jeans that stand for something!”
