Ariel Winter’s Mother Is Sad That Her Daughter ‘Feels The Need To Expose Herself’

Modern Family actress Ariel Winter is famous for her racy Instagram photos, but not everyone in her family is so ecstatic about the amount of skin she’s showing. In fact, her mother has taken to In Touch Weekly to let them know she’s not exactly happy with the posts her daughter is making, even if she says it is in the name of self-acceptance.

Ariel Winter and her mother, Chrystal Workman, are not on speaking terms, and Ariel has claimed in the past that her mother had attempted to sexualize her when she was incredibly young. However, Workman swears this isn’t the case at all. Ariel has also accused her mother of physically abusing her, something Workman also denies.

However, Workman did have a lot to say about her daughter’s choice of attire in her Instagram photos.

“She needs to grow up. I would tell her to dress properly, be the beautiful person she is. I feel sad that she feels the need to expose herself when it’s not necessary. Ariel is smart, beautiful and talented. She is a legitimate actress. She does not need to do this. She is beautiful with her clothes on.”

Ariel Winter was recently photographed for the website Refinery29, where she emphasised that body confidence is her main goal in life. She also stated that she had been bullied a lot via the internet and decided not to let it bother her.

“I went through a lot of hate online, so I tried to change myself for a really long time. But people just kept hating on me no matter what I did. I decided that instead of pleasing these other people, I’ll just spend that time pleasing myself. Those people are going to be rude to me regardless of what I do, so I should just try and be happy with what I am,” she told the outlet.

A few years ago, Ariel Winter famously underwent breast reduction surgery and wore a dress that showed off her scars. She, however, maintains that the scars are a part of who she is, and therefore, she doesn’t need to worry about whether or not they are visible.

“I know because I’m honest about my insecurities that people think I’m 100% positive about my body all the time, but I’m not. I get really uncomfortable, too. But I just remind myself that this is the body I was given. This is who I am,” she told Refinery29.

She has also taken a stand for body confidence as she is one of the few actresses in Hollywood who is not super thin but maintains a healthy body weight. In her interview, she said people should be confident at the beach no matter what their body looks like and that people should reclaim the location. If they want to go to the beach, she says, they should be able to go without hesitation or being scared that people are going to judge them.

The young star was emancipated from her parents in 2015, and her mother publicly doing an interview about her daughter and bashing her probably isn’t going to make things much better.

Some feel that she’s also acting too mature too soon, especially in relation to living her 29-year-old boyfriend when she is 19.

“I don’t understand why someone would even comment on our situation at all. There are tons of people of all ages that live with their boyfriend. There are tons of people that live with their girlfriends, [and] tons of people that don’t live together and are super happy. But I’m super happy in the arrangement that we have. We love living together. It’s just great,” she said.
