‘Teen Mom OG’ Amber Portwood And Matt Baier Accused Of Standing Up Fans During Book Signing
Teen Mom OG couple Amber Portwood and Matt Baier have not broken up, despite the ongoing rumors claiming they are no longer engaged.
In the past month, Amber Portwood’s on-again, off-again fiancé, Matt Baier, has been accused of failing a lie detector test and cheating on the longtime reality star but despite the reports, Portwood has stuck by her man and earlier this week, Baier promoted their joint appearance in Indiana to promote Baier’s book, You Have No F**king Idea: The Naked Truth About My Life.
On June 6, Matt Baier took to Instagram to promote the event with his many fans and followers.
“Book signing tonight at 6pm,” he wrote. “Click the link in bio for more information. Indiana – [Amber Portwood] and I’ll see you tonight. #YouHaveNoF**kingIdea.”
Around the same time, Amber Portwood took to Twitter, where she responded to a message sent to her by a fan which spoke of a thunderstorm warning in her area. After hearing the weather report, Portwood told the fan, “Ugh,” and tagged her fiancé in the post.
Although it is unclear what happened at the event, several commenters on Matt Baier’s Instagram post suggested that he and Amber Portwood didn’t show up to the book signing.
“They never showed,” a fan proclaimed.
“Is it really THAT surprising that they didn’t show?” another asked. “[Amber Portwood] is most likely in the process of dumping Matt after he was exposed cheating, and when she wouldn’t show up, he didn’t bother either.”
Other commenters were far more upset about having driven for hours to see Amber Portwood and Matt Baier only to learn that neither party had reportedly shown up.
“What’s up with neither of you showing up?” one person demanded. “You tweeted me an [hour] before and said to say hi.”
“Went all the way to greenwood for nothing….Really wanted to meet [Amber Portwood],” another added.
While Matt Baier told his fans that Amber Portwood would be in attendance and she tweeted to him just prior to the event, the longtime reality star later blamed Baier for canceling the event and causing her to face backlash from fans online. As she explained on Twitter, she shouldn’t have to face the wrath of fans when it wasn’t her event to begin with.
“This was not my book signing and I’m pissed off I’m getting backlash for someone else’s stupidity!!!” she wrote.
Following several rumors regarding their alleged split last month, Matt Baier spoke to People magazine and revealed that he and Amber Portwood are still planning to get married later this year.
“The wedding hasn’t been called off,” Baier said. “[Amber Portwood] and I decided to keep the details of our wedding very, very personal and private right now.”
During the currently airing season of Teen Mom OG, Amber Portwood and Matt Baier have gone through ups and downs and at one point, while shopping for wedding dresses, Portwood appeared to question whether or not she truly trusted her soon-to-be husband.
“When you put your trust in somebody … that’s what a relationship is built on,” Amber Portwood said as cameras rolled. “You get to a good place in life, and you can love each other and want to be with each other for the rest of your life, and still not trust each other. That’s what messes up everything.”
