DOOL fans know that Salem is about to have some major changes as Ron Carlivati takes the seat of Head Writer. With Greg Audino confirming he has auditioned for a contracted role on the long-running soap opera, we have to ponder which character he may portray.

If you don’t want to know what is coming on Days of Our Lives, stop reading now. The following will contain spoilers.

There has been a lot happening behind the scenes of DOOL. With Ron Carlivati as Head Writer, storylines are preparing to change, and everyone expects that to include some casting changes as well. There are some changes that fans have known were coming like the exit of Deimos and Nicole.

Vincent Irizarry was let go from DOOL just before his Daytime Emmy nomination. His character, Deimos has been a diabolical villain who has created enemies at every turn. According to the spoilers, he will be the victim of a homicide that sparks a whodunit mystery in Salem.

Arianne Zucker has opted not to renew her two-year contract. In interviews, she has stated that she just feels it is time to move on. This is the first contract renewal the actress has had since her real-life boyfriend, Shawn Christian was killed off in his role as Dr. Daniel Jonas. Her character, Nicole is a fan favorite on the set of DOOL, and many fans feel like she has never been given a good storyline. Nicole always ends up heartbroken and alone. It took her many years to learn from making mistakes, and now that she is older and ready for the happy, stable family life, it always eludes her. Zucker’s contract actually ended at the end of April. She did sign on to continue taping through this month to give her character the proper exit story.

There has been lots of speculation over who else could be leaving DOOL. Several storylines seem to be dragging, and Ron Carlivati is the writer to take that on and change it.

As for Greg Audino, the actor took to Twitter a couple of months ago and confirmed that he had indeed auditioned for a role on DOOL that would come with a contract. In piecing together the clues, fans of DOOL will remember that an audition tape using an old script with EJ in it was used. While this in no way confirms anything, it does lead fans to wonder if EJ will be returning to Salem with Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Will (Chandler Massey). After all, Kristen injected EJ with something after his death, and that was never followed up on. James Scott, who formerly played the role of EJ Dimera, has stated that he has no interest in returning to the set of DOOL. Greg Audino would be a possibility to fill those shoes in Salem.

According to Soap Opera Intel, another casting call that went out that coincides with the arrival of Morgan Fairchild as Angelica Deveraux. This casting call was presumed to be a replacement for the role of Alexander Kariakis. That gives us two possibilities of where we might see Greg Audino if he joins the beefed up hotties on DOOL.

Greg Audino has had roles in The Catch, Rosewood, My Crazy Ex, New Girl, and You Can Do Better. Do you think he would be a good fit for the role of EJ Dimera? Would you prefer to see him as Alexander Kiriakis? How do you feel about the cast changes coming to DOOL? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
