‘Shameless’ Star Emmy Rossum Had Unconventional Honeymoon & Wedding With Sam Esmail

Shameless star Emmy Rossum’s wedding and honeymoon with Sam Esmail is being described by media outlets and fans as unconventional.

As those who regularly follow Shameless news covered by the Inquisitr know, Emmy Rossum – who plays the role of Fiona Gallagher in the Showtime series – got hitched on May 28, 2017, to Sam Esmail. For those who aren’t familiar with Sam Esmail, he’s the director and/or writer of Comet (2014), Mr. Robot (2015), and Risk (2016).

According to Deadline, Sam Esmail is also in the works of a new TV series called Homecoming. Like her husband, Emmy is also keeping fairly busy as they start filming Season 8 of Shameless. Despite being extremely busy with their careers in Hollywood, Emmy and Sam found time to tie the knot and go on an unconventional honeymoon.

Unconventional wedding & honeymoon

Refinery 29 reveals it wasn’t until after her wedding that her unconventional approach to getting married was brought to light. The media outlet notes the word “bridezilla” is commonly used to refer to a woman in the process of getting married. It goes without saying that this can be exceptionally true for a star-studded Hollywood wedding. For the Shameless star, this wasn’t the case.

Typically, getting married is a very stressful time. It is a time where a woman in Rossum’s position would stress out about the dress, the invitations, the decorations, and even the food. Emmy, however, revealed her lack of concern regarding most things wedding related. Instead, it was the party afterward that the Shameless star was all about.

As most already know, the guest list for Emmy’s wedding and the after-party was star-studded to boot. The guest list included: Robert Downey Jr., Hilary Swank, William H. Macy, Rami Malek, Christian Slater, and Carly Chaikin. While it is unclear who all attended from the Shameless Gallagher family, most thought it was fitting that Macy was there given the fact that he was Emmy’s TV father.

In the past four days, Emmy Rossum and her husband Sam Esmail took to Instagram to reveal their honeymoon was just as unconventional as their wedding. With a conventional honeymoon – and especially a celebrity honeymoon – one would expect to find Sam and Emmy relaxing on a tropical island somewhere as they soak up the sun and spend time together. The Shameless star and her new husband, however, opted for a trip to Rwanda and took lots of stunning safari pictures while they were there.

Most of the pictures Emmy Rossum shared on her Instagram were of the gorgeous animals they got to encounter during their unconventional honeymoon. These animals included everything from gorillas to cheetahs to zebras.

Emmy even shared a breathtaking picture of the horizon as well as one that she called the “beautiful faces of Rwanda.”

While Sam Esmail didn’t share nearly as many pictures as Emmy, he did capture a nice snapshot of two gorillas as well as a few pictures of his new wife while she was also taking pictures of something else.

Emmy and Sam started dating back in 2013 after she snagged a role in his first full-length film titled Comet. It wasn’t until two years later that the couple got engaged in August of 2015.

Emmy and Sam’s pictures on Instagram were littered with comments praising the Shameless star for her remarkable photography skills. Some claimed to have no idea Rossum was capable of taking such impressive pictures.
