Is Chelsea Houska Quitting Her Reality Gig With MTV?

Could Chelsea Houska be considering an exit from Teen Mom 2 after starring on the MTV reality series for the past seven seasons?

After hearing news of Briana DeJesus’ addition to the show for Season 8, fans began to wonder whether the former Teen Mom 3 star was being brought to the show to replace one of its other stars, such as Chelsea Houska, Jenelle Evans, Leah Messer, or Kailyn Lowry.

“Is Chelsea Leaving Teen Mom 2?” OK! Magazine asked readers on June 6.

Rumors of Chelsea Houska’s possible exit from the show first began one year ago, when her father appeared on the Dentists, Implants and Worms podcast.

After being asked whether his daughter and her husband, Cole DeBoer, would consider doing a Newlyweds-style spinoff series, Randy Houska said (via Us Weekly), “I believe she probably wouldn’t want to do that… She’s ready to quit [Teen Mom 2]. If the series ends, she’s fine with it.”

While Randy went on to say that he likely wasn’t supposed to make that announcement, he also revealed that his daughter, who he labeled as “one of the best role models on the series,” has remained on the show because her role is “financially lucrative.”

“She’s 24 and she has a house. That’s why she’s stuck with it. She’s doing well, and Aubree’s all set as far as college money,” he explained.

At the time of the interview, Chelsea Houska was just months away from her October 2016 wedding, and while the network was hoping to feature the nuptials on Teen Mom 2, Houska refused. In fact, she turned down the network’s offer to may for the ceremony because she was not at all open to exposing her private moment with the many viewers of the show.

“[Chelsea Houska] drew the line [on filming the wedding],” he explained. “She doesn’t need it paid for. I was very proud that she grew the b***s to say no. They’ll go to the bachelorette party and stuff [to film], but for the wedding she agreed that she’ll send a bunch of professional still photos [to them to use for the show].”

Months ago, a report claimed Chelsea Houska’s ex-boyfriend, Adam Lind, the father of her daughter Aubree, quit Teen Mom 2 after barely filming the seventh season of the MTV show.

“If they offer it to him, he says he’s gonna say no. He’s sick of getting bashed all the time on the show,” a source told Radar Online earlier this year of Season 8. “He just wants to live his life and not be bad-mouthed all the time.”

Around the same time, a source confirmed to Radar Online that while Chelsea Houska was rumored to be leaving the show after Season 7, she has since gotten to a better place with production.

Although rumors have surfaced yet again in regard to Chelsea Houska’s possible exit from the popular show, her father, Randy Houska, confirmed that his daughter had not left the series in a tweet to fans on Monday night, June 5, as Briana DeJesus spoke of her addition to the show during a Teen Mom OG aftershow.

Kailyn Lowry also spoke out about the cast change on her Twitter page, revealing that while none of the ladies had left the show ahead of Season 8, their roles would all be reduced to about 5 minutes for each girl due to Briana DeJesus’ addition to the cast.

To see more of Chelsea Houska and her co-stars, including Jenelle Evans, Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer, and Briana DeJesus, tune into Teen Mom 2 Season 8 when the series returns to MTV later this year.
