Roloff Baby: Zach Roloff Wonders What To Call Son Jackson, While Tori’s Mind Is Blown Over Being Called “Mom”

The newest Roloff baby, Jackson Kyle, is making waves with his parents, as his father Zach struggles with what to call him, and his mother Tori wrestles with being called “Mom.”

As People reports, tonight’s (June 6, 2017) episode of Little People, Big World will showcase how new parents Zach and Tori are preparing for Jackson’s arrival, getting ready for his baby shower and generally trying to accept the fact that they’re going to be parents.

Of course, in real life, Jackson Kyle Roloff has already been born and welcomed into the growing Roloff family. However, since there is a gap of several months between when TV scenes are filmed and when you see them in your living room, what you’re seeing on Little People, Big World actually happened several months ago. And tonight’s episode, specifically, was filmed while Tori was still very pregnant and looking ahead to her baby shower.

“My baby shower is this weekend. I’ve got a lot of family and friends coming from, you know, all over to celebrate.”

This being her first pregnancy and first baby shower, she admits that she wasn’t a hundred percent sure what would be happening, but either way, she was looking forward to it.

“You know, I don’t know a whole bunch about what’s going on at the baby shower since all my friends are planning everything, but I’m excited.”

Of course, this is 2017, not 1957, and in modern baby showers, dads are expected to play some role. Unfortunately for Zach and Tori, neither of them are clear on what that role is.

“The baby showers I have been to, the dads always show up to just to say, ‘Hey, Dad’s here too — not just Mom. ‘”

All first-time parents have a hard time accepting the magnitude of the fact that they’re going to be parents, and in tonight’s LPBW you can watch that magnitude hit Zach and Tori in real time.

“Isn’t that weird, ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’?”

For Zach, admitting to himself that he’s going to have a son means coming up with a better term of endearment for Jackson.

“I don’t know if I’m going to say that, though. ‘My son.’ Like sun? The sun?’ I want to say ‘my boy. That’s my boy.’ Yeah, that’s probably going to be more my thing.”

Of course, as you’re well aware by now, Jackson Kyle has already been born, and he’s a cute little muffin. And, like his father Zach and his paternal grandparents Matt and Amy, he has dwarfism. Specifically, he has achondroplasia, the same type of dwarfism that Zach and Amy have.

What that means for Jackson Kyle will depend on how things shake out as he grows. Babies born with this type of dwarfism often have medical problems, sometimes severe ones, such as excess cerebrospinal fluid (Zach has had a shunt installed to drain excess fluid from his brain – a shunt that has failed at least once and may be failing again, according to Radar Online). Jackson’s grandfather, Matt, has similarly dealt with health problems related to his dwarfism for his entire life; to this day he uses crutches and a motorized scooter to get around.

However, Jackson’s grandmother, Amy, also has achondroplasia, but has made it through life with few medical problems beyond the normal wear and tear on the human body.

Regardless of what happens, the latest Roloff baby is born into a loving and supportive family that wants to see him live his best life, and that’s what matters the most.
