Could Selena Gomez Join ‘The Voice’ Cast? ‘I Wouldn’t Be Opposed,’ She Says

Selena Gomez could one day join the cast of The Voice.

Although the upcoming Season 13 cast has already been confirmed, Selena Gomez opened up about her thoughts on the hit NBC singing competition during an interview on June 5 and discussed the possibility of sitting in a red chair during an upcoming season.

“I appreciate Adam [Levine] and Blake [Shelton]’s back and forth. It’s the funniest thing ever,” Selena Gomez said during an interview on Sirius XM Morning Mash-Up (via Hollywood Life). “I love the bickering. But Gwen was beautiful and amazing. It was a surreal experience. Working with the artists was incredible. They were so proud and they listened and took their art seriously.”

The Season 12 cast of The Voice consisted of Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Alicia Keys, but during Season 13, Stefani and Keys will move on as Miley Cyrus returns to the show alongside new coach Jennifer Hudson.

As for The Voice Season 14, the only confirmed coach at this point is new cast member Kelly Clarkson, who will be seen during the series’ 14th season next spring for the very first time.

After being asked about her potential future role on the show, Selena Gomez said, “I don’t know,” before admitting, “I wouldn’t be opposed to it!”

If Selena Gomez did join the cast of The Voice, it certainly won’t be her first time in front of the camera on a series. In fact, television is where Gomez got her start years ago. As fans of the singer and actress will recall, Gomez made her small screen debut during a 2002 episode of Barney and Friends.

From there, Selena Gomez went on to land a number of guest starring appearances on series, including Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Hannah Montana, before landing a starring role on Wizards of Waverly Place.

Selena Gomez’s possible addition to The Voice also wouldn’t be the first time she’s appeared on the NBC series. Back in 2015, Gomez made a mentor appearance for the team of Gwen Stefani during the show’s ninth season.

Selena Gomez has also worked behind the scenes and is currently acting as the executive producer of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, which premiered earlier this year.

The series, which follows a suicidal teenager and her classmates, has become a mega hit, and months ago, Selena Gomez expressed her pride in the project.

“I’m a little overwhelmed and very surprised,” she told E! News of the show’s success. “I mean I believed in the project for so long and I understood what the message was. I just wanted it to come across in a way that kids would be frightened, but confused—in a way that they would talk about it because it’s something that’s happening all the time. So, I’m overwhelmed that’s it’s doing as well as it’s doing.”

While joining the cast of The Voice during one of its upcoming seasons is certainly a possibility for Selena Gomez, she appears to have her hands full at the moment. In addition to her executive producer duties with 13 Reasons Why, Gomez is preparing for the release of her upcoming album, which is expected to become available sometime this year.

“The momentum is picking up, but it’s very gradual, and the content is very different from what I’m used to. So, I’m excited,” Selena Gomez said of the workload involved in her new music, via E! News.
