DeMario Jackson Begs For Second Chance After Ex-Girlfriend Drama, Says Goal Is To ‘Make America Smile Again’

DeMario Jackson has already caused some drama on Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette, but that wasn’t how he thought his stint on the ABC dating show would play out. Jackson, whose angry ex-girlfriend Lexie showed up to confront him mid-date on the second episode of The Bachelorette, says he had a much different reason for signing on to the show.

Rachel promptly booted DeMario from the group date after looking through Lexie’s recent text messages from him.

“I don’t like being embarrassed,” the gorgeous Dallas attorney told Jackson. “I can’t even look at you right now. I’m really gonna need you to get the f**k out.”

Now, DeMario’s back for Week 3 with an apology in place. ABC News posted a sneak peek at DeMario’s mea culpa in which he begs the Bachelorette star for a second chance.

“Yesterday I completely f***ed up,” Jackson admits in the clip. “I understand that your trust is something I might not be able to have now, but I want to be able to gain that trust back.”

While the sneak peek doesn’t reveal if Rachel allows DeMario to return to her season of the show, she does seem to consider it.

“As much as what he did hurt me, I think it took guts coming to the mansion tonight,” the Bachelorette star says of Jackson.

Of course, the fact that DeMario Jackson allegedly signed on to The Bachelorette without cutting ties with his hometown girlfriend raised plenty of red flags, the most important one being if he signed on to the show for “the right reasons.”

Turns out, DeMario wasn’t originally looking for love — or reality TV fame. Jackson recently told Glamour he was stalked by Bachelorette casting agents while he was eating dinner with friends at Chipotle in Century City, California.

“[A producer] comes up and was like, ‘Hey, do you wanna be on this TV show?’ And she takes my picture,” Jackson revealed. “I had a mouthful of barbacoa. I probably had something in my teeth, I don’t know.”

Jackson admitted he had been familiar with the ABC dating show thanks to weekly Bachelor Mondays at his friend’s house. As soon as he found out Rachel was going to be The Bachelorette, Jackson did his homework on her.

DeMario explained revealed that at his advanced age (30!) he is past the point of “dating just to date.”

“I refuse to settle, to be average, to be basic,” Jackson said.

“Plus, I’m at that age where I’m not just dating to date; I’m dating to get married.”

Still, a future walk down the aisle may not have been his main goal for agreeing to compete on The Bachelorette.

“I just want to have fun,” DeMario explained of his decision to appear on the long-running ABC reality show.

“My main thing is, I’ve kind of piggy-backed on what Donald Trump said, ‘Make America great again.’ I want to make America smile again. We live in a time where everyone’s so serious and worked up and anxious, like, why?”

DeMario pointed to his infamous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles onesie, joking that he would wear the get-up to the grocery store just to get some smiles.

“My grandma always tells me, ‘You are the light. Be the change you wanna see in the world,” DeMario revealed. “So, f**kin’ do it! I just wanna make people smile and have fun because of me.”

While DeMario Jackson wasn’t initially looking for a reality TV career on The Bachelorette, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him turn up on the cast of the summertime spinoff Bachelor in Paradise. If Rachel doesn’t keep him around, that is.
