Blake Shelton Calls Gwen Stefani ‘The Worst Co-Host Of All Time’

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani recently appeared onstage together at a major event, and Blake did not appreciate being embarrassed by his girlfriend.

As the Washington Post reports, Blake Shelton was invited to host Wal-Mart’s annual shareholder meeting on June 2. The event was held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and it was a star-studded affair that included performances by Gwen Stefani, Rachel Platten, Mary J. Blige, and Ne-Yo. However, it was Blake Shelton’s playful relationship with his gorgeous girlfriend that stole the show.

Gwen walked onto the stage first wearing a dress covered with sparkly red and black fringe, and she introduced Blake to the crowd. The lovebirds greeted one another with a hug before Gwen exited the stage. Blake then got distracted by a redheaded woman in a long white dress who was inexplicably suspended high over his head by two wires. She was lowered down just as Blake Shelton started to address the crowd.

“What is going on down here?” the bewildered singer asked the mystery woman. “I didn’t want to look up, by the way, because you’re wearing a dress.”

Later on during the show, Gwen Stefani tweeted out a photo of a young Blake Shelton with a big grin on his face. Blake pretended to check the tweet out on his phone while a super-sized image of his majestic mullet flashed up on the screen behind him.

“Oh my God!” Blake said after turning around and seeing the photo.

“Are you kidding me? Take it down, Gwen. Take it down! She has got to be the worst co-host of all time.”

“Ya’ll, please do me a favor and don’t retweet that,” he added.

Luckily for Shefani fans, someone was kind enough to film all of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s best moments from Wal-Mart’s shareholder meeting. The tweet bit begins at the 8:45 mark below.

In case you’re wondering what’s up with the weird little dance Blake Shelton does that he calls the “squiggly,” it’s related to the “Wal-Mart Cheer,” an exercise aimed at putting some pep in the step of Wal-Mart employees. According to the Stranger, some Wal-Mart locations begin store-wide meetings with the cheer. The store manager shouts, “Gimme a W!” and the employees make a “W” shape with their hands and yell out, “W!” The group then proceeds to do this with each letter in the word “Wal-Mart.” When the manager gets to the hyphen, he shouts, “Gimme a squiggly!” Employees are expected to respond by doing a dance similar to the twist. Blake’s take on the squiggly fails to impress the Wal-Mart employees who get invited onstage to critique his moves.

As Hollywood Life reports, Blake Shelton later got the chance to introduce his girlfriend to the Wal-Mart shareholders and employees in the crowd.

“I’ve saved the best for last,” Blake said. “This next artist has sold over two trillion albums. She has won over 10 thousand Grammys, and a bunch of other awesome stuff. And, she happens to be my favorite person in the world!”

Gwen Stefani had everyone in the crowd doing their best squigglies to the No Doubt song “Hella Good” and her solo hit “Hollaback Girl.”

Perhaps Gwen and Blake fans will get to see their favorite couple onstage together again in the near future. According to Entertainment Tonight, Gwen and Blake were recently spotted heading into a Hollywood recording studio together. It’s possible that only one-half of the famous pair was recording music and the other was there to listen and offer feedback, but there’s also a chance that they’re making new music together. Gwen and Blake previously recorded a duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” for Blake Shelton’s most recent album, If I’m Honest.

Who knows? Maybe Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will record an entire album together and release it as a Wal-Mart exclusive.
