‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Eric Braeden Addresses Adam Recast, Teases Michael Muhney’s Return

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease Adam Newman could be on his way back to Genoa City. At the moment, CBS hasn’t revealed who will play the role of Adam. Back in September, Justin Hartley left the Y&R after NBC’s dramedy This Is Us was renewed for two more seasons. The Young and the Restless showrunners have said that they “aren’t in a hurry” to recast the role, implying they may not even bring Adam back on the show.

The Young and the Restless fans have asked over and over for the soap opera to give the role to fan-favorite Michael Muhney. There was a petition that fetched over 15,000 signatures demanding Muhney’s rehire.

Michael Muhney played Adam Newman on Young and the Restless from 2009 to 2014. CBS fired him after he had a hard time getting along with several members of the cast. Michael admitted that he was young and has since matured. Is CBS ready to take a chance and rehire him?

Michael Muhney Has A Large Fanbase

No question that rehiring Muhney would be ideal for Young and the Restless‘ ratings. The viewership has been very low the past few months and could use a boost. One of the reasons the series has such low ratings is the storylines are boring and recycled. People aren’t watching, and those who do tune in aren’t excited about the storylines.

A few weeks ago, Greg Rikaart, who plays Kevin Fisher, announced that Young and the Restless decided not to renew his contract, even though he wanted to continue. The Y&R fans were upset that after 17 years, Kevin would not be a part of the show. Many felt that Kevin may disappear for a few months, only to return. Much of Kevin’s future on the Young and the Restless will depend on his exit storyline. If they write him a dark exit and he breaks the law, he may have to stay away for a long time.

Eric Braeden Addresses Adam Recast On Twitter

Muhney hasn’t been silent about his desire to return to Young and the Restless. When a Y&R fan asked him a few weeks ago what they could do to help him get back on the soap opera, he replied they could contact the showrunners, but he asked fans to remain classy when doing so.

“Do I like it?? I love it. Proof that Eric Braeden was the single greatest acting partner I’ve ever had, he always elevated my performances,” Muhney tweeted in response to a fan-made video.

The fan replied that they signed the petition for his return. That’s when Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman, replied to the tweet.

“Not writing it [Young and the Restless], Giselle. Be patient a little longer.”

What’s interesting about his response is that he seems to be following Muhney’s social media. Also, he asked the Young and the Restless fan to give them a little while longer to bring Adam back.

So, Does That Mean Muhney Is Returning?

As you can imagine, Braeden’s tweet to Michael Muhney almost broke the internet. Young and the Restless fans wanted to know if CBS had officially rehired the talented actor. Of course, neither Muhney nor Braeden revealed any further details, which just added to the social media buzz.

With May sweeps over, it is looking like Adam won’t be returning for a few months yet. Adam’s return storyline will be multi-layered. First, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Kevin will exit, possibly giving a hint that Adam could be alive. Then, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) will search for Adam. Or, perhaps Adam will stumble into town looking for his family.

Eric Braeden’s comment reveals to the fans that Adam is returning, but the Young and the Restless fans need to be patient. If Michael Muhney does return, the wait will be well worth it.
