‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Season 9: Sam Traumatized By Wife’s Death; A Wedding Could Happen Next Season

While fans may have some waiting to do before NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 arrives, the good news is that it has already been confirmed. The upcoming season is bound to be full of challenges for the series’ characters such as Callen (Chris O’Donnell), who might have to do some adjustments with the expected changes in Sam (LL Cool J), given the traumatic events he has been through last season. But it won’t be one gloomy season though, a couple of romances are predicted to blossom before the season is over.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 Release Date, New Time Slot

But of course, what most fans probably want to know is when the show’s ninth season will arrive. Fortunately, NCIS: Los Angeles is one of the shows that was announced by CBS to return this fall.

Fans can expect the NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 to premiere on Sunday, October 1, 2017, according to the CBS site. But there will be one minor change for the upcoming season though. According to CarterMatt, Season 9 will now be assigned the 9 p.m. Eastern slot, a return to its past schedule.

Callen And Team Adjust To A Changed Sam

Meanwhile, Callen might have to be a little more patient with his partner Sam next season. Apparently, the disastrous events last season left Sam devastated and it might take some time for the emotional scars to heal.

According to the Christian Post, fans can expect a new Sam in the coming ninth season of NCIS: Los Angeles. The Senior Special Agent will come out a changed man shaped by the traumatic events he had to go through last season.

In the Season 8 finale, Sam was not able to protect Michelle (Aunjanue Ellis) from his enemy, the terrorist Takir Khaled (Anslem Richardson). With vengeance on his mind, Sam decided to hunt down his wife’s killer on his own. While the NCIS team tried to stop and reason with him, he had made up his mind and no longer listened to them. In the end, he had gone rogue to complete the task and even went up against Callen at one point.

While Tahir is already gone, the trauma of losing a loved one had shaken Sam to the core. In the coming season, he is expected to be always on edge, constantly on the lookout for what’s left of his family, the son he has with Michelle. It may take some time for the agent to internalize and fully accept that his wife is really gone. Throughout the grieving process, a guarded Sam might not be the best partner to work with. And for this, Callen needs to be patient with his colleague and friend.

It is yet unknown how the loss of his wife will affect Sam in the long run or if he will revert back to the old Sam as before. Only time will tell. One good thing is that throughout the grieving process, Callen will do what he can to support him, and that goes for the entire NCIS team as well.

Wedding Bells In The Offing?

As stated beforehand, NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 will not be all dark and moody. If rumors are correct, there could be a wedding coming and loyal fans probably have an inkling who the couple could be.

In season 8, Kensi (Daniela Ruah) surprised Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) by dropping on her knees and proposing to him in the middle of the street. Of course, the natural progression of things would be a wedding, and it could already happen in the coming season.

In an interview with TV Line, it seemed that Daniela Ruah might have already dropped hints on where the relationship of her onscreen character will go in the coming season of NCIS: Los Angeles. According to the actress, the writers and producers have created a perfect environment for unconditional love to develop between Deeks and Kensi.

“I think that Kensi and Deeks have been through more than their fair share of obstacles, where if it’s Kensi going through something, the way that Deeks supports her, she can safely fall in love with him, because he’s going to be there no matter what. And she obviously is never going to leave his side no matter what he does. That’s how I view love…”

As the wait for the NCIS: Los Angeles Season 9 continues, more exciting details are bound to surface in the future. Be sure to stay tuned for updates.
