Kandi Burruss was embroiled in more drama than ever before during season 9 of Real Housewives Atlanta. In addition to dealing with the fallout that came with the disintegration of her friendship with Phaedra Parks, she also had to battle Porsha Williams telling the world that she’d heard about Kandi and her husband, Todd Tucker talking about wanting to drug her. There was no truth to that rumor, however.
Burruss was finally vindicated during the RHOA reunion when Porsha Williams exposed Phaedra Parks as the originator of the rumor, but much of the damage had already been done. Even now, weeks after the reunion has aired, some commentators are still trashing Kandi for the baseless lie.
Because of this, Kandi Burruss considered leaving RHOA, according to US Weekly.
“During season 9, I was feeling like I might want to leave because there was so much hate from fans online and I was having trouble because, how do you defend yourself from a lie?” Burruss stated.
“How do you defend yourself from something that never happened?”
“I’ve never had drama like that that lasted the whole season. It was very sh–ty,” Kandi Burruss added.
“But now I’m extremely happy that people were able to see the truth. Sometimes I thought people would never know the truth and it would have been a stain on me forever.”
Even though Burruss still has to deal with a few internet trolls, it’s largely Phaedra Parks’ reputation that has been “stained.” Following the reveal during the RHOA reunion, fans of the show wasted no time in letting Parks know how they felt about her behavior.
Some fans even signed a petition to have Parks, an attorney, disbarred for spreading the slanderous lie about Kandi. Because of this, it’s all but confirmed that Phaedra Parks will not be a cast member next season–something that Kandi Burruss is probably resting easy about.

If Kandi Burruss had actually decided to leave Real Housewives of Atlanta, she would still have plenty of other things to occupy her time, however. Burruss is easily the most decorated cast member in RHOA history, having accrued an impressive following as a member of Xscape, and as a Grammy Award Winning Songwriter.
In fact, Kandi recently reunited with her former band members: Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, Tamika Scott, and LaTocha Scott. Kandi Burruss has remained close friends with Tiny Cottle throughout the years, but her relationships with Tamika and LaTocha haven’t been nearly as rosy. Recently, all four members came together to announce that they had put their differences aside and had decided to embark on a reunion tour together.
The ’90s girl group, who are known for their hits like Just Kickin it, and The Arms of the One Who Love You, will play their first show with the original members in over 20 years this July at the Essence Festival. Bravo will be there every step of the way to document their journey back into the spotlight.

“And even though slates have been wiped clean, Kandi Burruss admitted that it’s taken some time to re-develop a relationship with Tamika and Latocha.
“We hadn’t talked really in years. So now we’re having to rekindle our friendship and work relationship,” she said. “
So let’s just say that’ll be interesting to watch. It’s going to be totally different because, with my group, it’s so emotional and personal. Other people have their college years to look at. Xscape was my college years,” she added.”
In light of these things, it would seem that Kandi Burruss has no plans to let this negative press get her down. Between her new tour, new spinoff, and other business ventures, she’ll have plenty to keep herself busy with this Summer.
What do you think about Kandi Burruss possibly leaving Real Housewives of Atlanta? Do you think that she would benefit from removing herself from that atmosphere? Alternatively, do you think that RHOA would benefit from Kandi’s absence? You can sound off in the comment section below.
