Prince William And Harry Let Princess Diana Down: Kate Middleton’s Husband Opens Up About Mother’s Death

Prince William believes that he and his brother Harry let their mother down. Kate Middleton’s husband opened up about Princess Diana’s death. The Duke of Cambridge talked about it on a BBC documentary.

Lady Diana, one of most loved celebrities in history, died in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997 when the Princess of Wales was just 36. Her sons might have been too young to understand the gravity of the situation that time. Prince William was 15, and his brother Harry was 12. Now that they have grown up, they want to talk about it to the world. Prince William said in the 90-minute BBC documentary that they had decided to open up about it, because they believed they owed it to their mother.

“Part of the reason why Harry and I want to do this is because we feel we owe it to her.”

The Royal Family is known for being discreet about almost everything. It is atypical for the members of the Royal Family to indulge in this kind of emotional confession. The prince went on to the length of saying that he believed that he and his brother let their mother down, as they could not protect her.

“I think an element of it is feeling like we let her down when we were younger,” Prince William said. “We couldn’t protect her.”

The Duke has also talked about how he owes it to Prince Diana to tell the world about how special she was. He believes it is time for the brothers to stand up for their mother’s name and remind the world “of the character and person that she was.”

Prince Harry talked about his mother’s work in raising awareness of the campaign to free the world of landmines. Diana, Princess of Wales visited affected areas such as Huambo in Angola and Travnik in Bosnia, in 1997. There, 20 years ago, Diana met two boys, Malic and Žarko, now grown men, and are attending the #LandMineFree2025 reception tonight. #LandMineFree2025

Prince William was not the only one who talked about his mother’s death, Prince Harry also opened up about it. He said that it was “shocking” to see how people expressed their emotion and love for Lady Diana after her death. He believes it is amazing to know that their mother had such a strong impact on so many people around the world.

Prince Harry feels it will never be easy for him or for his brother to talk about their mother.

“But, 20 years on seems like a good time to remind people of the difference that she made not just to the Royal Family but also to the world.”

The BBC documentary is meant to tell the world about the inside story of Lady Diana’s death. The documentary will focus on telling “the inside story of the tumultuous and unprecedented week that followed the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, and explore how she came to have such an extraordinary effect on the nation and people around the world,” The Telegraph quoted a spokesman as saying.

Diana Frances Spencer’s marriage with Charles was legendary. Charles was dating Diana’s sister when he first met his future wife. He eventually proposed to Diana in 1981, and she accepted it. Diana was just 20 when she married the Prince of Wales and became a part of the Royal Family in July 1981. Charles was 13 years older than his bride. Within years after their marriage, Diana was concerned about Charles’s relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, whom he married in 2005.

During Princess Diana’s BBC1 Panorama interview in November 1995, she accused Charles of cheating on her.

“Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”

Soon after the BBC1 interview was aired, the Queen advised Charles and Diana to get divorced. The divorce was eventually finalized in August 1996, and Princess Diana was stripped off her style “Her Royal Highness.” However, it was 14-year-old William who promised that he would “give it back” to her, The Telegraph reported.

“Don’t worry, Mummy, I will give it back to you one day when I am King.”

Only time can tell if Prince William keeps his promise.
