New Interview Reports Vili Fualaau Still Loves Mary Kay Letourneau, Filed For Separation To Start ‘Cigaweed’

How’s this for a twist in the story? New reports from Radar Online suggest that Vili Fualaau and his wife, Mary Kay Letourneau, are getting separated for way different reasons than what was initially reported. In fact, Fualaau goes as far as admitting that the split is “all for publicity.”

To say that Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau have been through a lot over the past few decades is an understatement. Yesterday, it was announced that 33-year old Fualaau filed for legal separation from 55-year-old Letourneau following 12 years of marriage and 20 years together as a couple. This comes after two children together, a 7-year prison sentence for child rape charges served by Mary Kay, and a spot on the sex offender registry in King County, Washington.

But according to Radar Online, Vili and Mary Kay are still very much in love. Fualaau claims that filing for separation was merely for business reasons.

“It’s not necessarily what you think. Everything is fine between us.”

Fualaau, who has worked as a DJ over the past few years, is starting a new business venture. But he feels that being married to Mary Kay may hinder his new venture. Vili is worried that he would have trouble obtaining the proper licenses for his new “Cigaweed” marijuana cigarette business if Mary Kay is still legally his wife.

“When you want to get licensed, they do background checks on both parties. If I decide to be a part of it I have to be licensed and I have to be vetted and so does a spouse. She has a past. She has a history.”

Of course, this is in regard to Mary Kay’s listing as a registered sex offender. According to Yahoo! Celebrity, Mary Kay will remain on the sex offender list for the rest of her life, even though her ranking has dropped.

“Letourneau is now a level one offender, which is the lowest of three levels. She dropped from her original level two status because it has been so many years since her last offense.”

During an interview with Barbara Walters on 20/20 back in 2015, Letourneau expressed her desire to get off the sex offender list so she would be able to teach in Washington state again.

“Recently I said, ‘It’s been 10 years, why don’t I lift that?’ There’s a process, there’s a form, you take it to court and then they grant it if it looks like it should be granted.”

But, as previously stated, Mary Kay is never expected to be removed from the list, which is the primary reason that Radar Online cites for the split. But other news outlets like People Magazine are still sticking with the original story, citing marital issues as the main reason for the separation.

“They’ve been having issues for a while now. They tried to work through them, but it didn’t work. They’re still committed to being good parents to their children.”

Following the news of the couple’s separation, Twitter was abuzz with users poking fun at the couple’s marriage.

“#MaryKayLetourneau and her husband are separating. If a child raping teacher and her victim can’t make it, what hope do the rest of us have?”

Another user sarcastically compares their marriage to a storybook ending.

“A fairy tale Seattle romance comes to an end #marykayletourneau”

One other tweet sarcastically suggests that Mary Kay should get a new job.

“Maybe #MaryKayLetourneau will go back teaching and do private tutoring!!!!”
