‘Prison Break’ Season 5 Finale Next Week, Could Season 6 Happen?

As hard as this might be to believe, Prison Break fans are going to have to say goodbye to Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows once more as the finale of Season 5 airs next week.

There are spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn’t caught up on Season 5 of Prison Break.

According to Den of Geek, the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 9, titled “Behind The Eyes,” and the promotional trailer have been released. You can see the promo trailer for the Season 5 finale in the featured image slot at the top of this story and you can read the official synopsis for the finale episode of Season 5 below.

“Dangerous threats keep Michael and Lincoln fighting to protect Sara and Mike. Meanwhile, Poseidon continues to try and outsmart Michael and the rest of the gang, which leads them to the ultimate showdown, and not everyone makes it out alive in the all-new ‘Behind The Eyes’ season finale episode of Prison Break.”

Those who watched Season 5, Episode 8, know the episode ended on a massive cliffhanger, leaving fans unsure of whether or not Michael and Lincoln were still alive. Based on the promo trailer for Episode 9, it would appear as if Michael was not killed at the end of the episode. It does, however, appear as if Lincoln is in pretty serious condition as he has been rushed to the hospital.

The very end of the promo trailer for the Season 5 finale of Prison Break shows T-Bag screaming “No!” before the sound of a gun goes off. This has those who have seen the trailer questioning whether or not Whip survives the season finale. The synopsis of the finale episode of Season 5 certainly suggests someone is going to die; the question is who? Were the gunshots to Lincoln fatal? Does Michael manage to kill Poseidon or could Poseidon get to Michael first? And, what happens to Sara and Michael’s son? One can only hope all of these questions will be answered in the Season 5 finale of the series.

Could a Season 6 Happen?

According to TV Series Finale, those who suffered the heartbreak of Prison Break being canceled by Fox back in 2009 are going to have their heart broken once more as the season has – again – been canceled. Most fans of the series aren’t going to find the fact that there likely won’t be a Season 6 to be too shocking as it was common knowledge that the series had only been renewed for a limited Season 5.

Gary Newman, the CEO of Fox, did tell Deadline that the network was open to the idea of having additional installments of the series at some point in time in the future. After all, it was clear the series still had a pretty big fan base. After nearly a decade of being off the air, the series was able to pull in between 2 and 3 million viewers for just about every episode.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month, Wentworth Miller revealed that he would be completely open to the idea of exploring more Prison Break if it was an awesome story line.

“I wouldn’t rule it out. I feel like there’s more story there and now we’re talking about multiple generations. There are a lot of different directions that we could go, but I’m not in favor of exploring any of that unless there’s something awesome that we can sink our teeth into.”

Wentworth also joked that in 10 years, he could be breaking his child or grandchild out of prison as one last jailbreak.
