History Channel Series ‘Alone’ Returns With An Intriguing New Twist
People usually don’t do well when they’re completely alone, and previous seasons of Alone made that fact very clear. Fans of the show know that the Alone participants endured a lot, but isolation and loneliness was almost always the deciding factor on when it was time for someone to leave the challenge. Monsters and Critics shared that on this season of Alone, there will be a big change when seven teams made up of two family members each will strive to become the ones who survive the longest on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
For those unfamiliar with the primary premise of this popular series, Alone is returning to where the first two seasons took place. Vancouver Island is a beautiful area, but looks can be deceiving. This is a place full of both obvious and hidden dangers, and the Alone survivalists better be prepared for whatever comes their way. There are several hazards and challenges to overcome once the two people on each Alone team find one another, since they will be dropped off in different locations. Once they’re together, the Alone survivalists can begin work on setting up camp, which could their home for several months on Alone, so they need to choose a location carefully.
“Alone continues to captivate viewers with its raw, authentic storytelling and now, after three seasons, we’re adding a new level of complexity to the show,” said Zachary Behr, the senior executive producer for the History Channel. “At its core the show remains the same as our survivalists endure the challenges of being isolated in some of the most unstable terrain imaginable. However, this season, pairs are initially separated from one another and must navigate an impenetrable forest in an effort to find each other. Once reunited, they’ll have to communicate, compromise and work together with their teammate if they want to endure the longest.”
The Futon Critic shared that the Alone teams will have a lot to do besides building shelters that can last through the high winds and storms that frequent the area. Each Alone team will have to learn how to procure their own food, water, and other materials from the land. Alone teams will be able to have 10 survival tools between them as well, including their camera equipment and safety gear. As in previous seasons, they will be documenting their own journey on Alone.

Having teams on this season of Alone will change some of the dynamics, and it will be interesting to see if the Alone participants are able to stay longer. Besides bringing their own special set of skills to the competition, each person on Alone will need plenty of mental as well as physical strength to beat this daunting challenge. Alone gives out a cash prize of $500,000 for winning the challenge, and this is a great incentive to keep going. However, now that the Alone survivalists have someone to share this experience with it will be interesting to see just how long they can hang on.
Alone is about as real as it gets, and will test the seven teams in ways that they never could have imagined. This is the ultimate test of will power, and each Alone participant will have to learn to push through both mental and physical challenges in order to succeed. Alone is produced by Leftfield Pictures for the History Channel, with David George, Shawn Witt, Zachary Green, and Ryan Pender serving as the executive producers.
