‘Modern Family’ Star, Sarah Hyland, Addresses Concerns About Her Weight And Health

Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland, went to Twitter to address the concerns of her fans about her weight and her health, specifically the idea that she was promoting anorexia. Hyland has been accused of promoting anorexia because of her weight loss and has been bullied on social media by people telling her to eat more or that her body looks disfigured.

Many fans were genuinely concerned about Sarah Hyland’s weight and health though, and commented on her social media posts to express their feelings. Sarah responded by getting to the point and eloquently explaining to her fans what has been going on in her life, without revealing too many details.

On her Twitter account, Sarah Hyland shared seven graphics with her thoughts typed out on them. Hyland noted that she had not brought the issues up on social media before but that the subject of her weight had been discussed “heavily” by people in the comments of her Instagram posts.

“I normally don’t comment on things like this because it draws attention to those trying to spread negativity but I’m here to explain a few things and spread love,” Hyland started off by saying. She continued to say that there were aspects of the past year that she wanted to keep private, but it had not been the greatest year.

Sarah Hyland explained that she hasn’t been able to work out and she misses being outdoors and being strong. People had commented that she was too skinny and that she should “eat a burger.” Hyland noted that she did eat burgers and loved them but she had lost a great deal of muscle mass because of being on bed rest and for the time, she could not control what her body looks like.

People on social media had accused Sarah Hyland of promoting anorexia and she felt it was important for everyone, but especially for young girls, to understand that she was not doing this. Sarah emphasized that she was trying to eat healthy food to gain weight and was taking care of herself and that no one needed to worry.

Hyland noted in her Twitter posts that she did not take insults personally because there would always be someone that would think she was too fat, too skinny, a slut, or not curvy enough and she understood that. However, she wanted to make sure that young girls out there that follow her on social media understand that she was not intentionally making herself too thin through an unhealthy lifestyle.

Sarah Hyland ended her Twitter rant by saying, “Don’t let others’ comments alter any part of you!” and she encouraged people to show love to each other.

Sophia Vergara, Sarah Hyland’s Modern Family co-star, retweeted her messaged with clapping hands to show her approval. Many other fans tweet positive messages to Hyland, too.

This is not the first time that Sarah Hyland has spoken about her health issues. People reported that when Hyland had a kidney transplant in 2012 because of kidney dysplasia, she wrote a series of twitter notes. Sarah explained that she had been dealing with health issues for the past year.

Earlier in May, Hyland’s co-star, Ariel Winter, received many negative comments because of her attire. Hyland mentioned on Twitter that paparazzi at the airport were trying to get her to speak negatively about Winter but Sarah kept quiet.

Sarah Hyland takes her own advice. As she said at the end of her Twitter rant, “Laugh. Love. Be happy. Support your peers. Love Work hard. Be confident. Love. Adopt puppies! Tell your mum you appreciate her. Love. Love. Love.”

What do you think if how Modern Family star, Sarah Hyland, dealt with the haters on social media that were harassing her about her health and weight? And what do you think of her message of love?
