The second apocalypse is coming, and the characters of The 100 don’t have much time left. In the Season 4 finale, titled “Praimfaya,” a group is going to head back into space. In an interview with TV Line, Jason Rothenberg revealed why he decided to go in that direction.

“I knew right away that this is where it was going. It was about removing every other obstacle, every other choice, in [the characters’] path and presenting this almost suicidal, crazy attempt to go to space to get above the [death wave]. I love sci-fi, and this show really does live in a sci-fi world, so I wanted to find a way to reincorporate space into the story — at least for a little while. And now, going back to space is their only option.”

The website learned about a particular scene that the executive producer is excited about. No details were revealed, except that it has to do with one character climbing something. Rothenberg said it took a few days to shoot the scene. He expressed his gratitude to the special effects team for doing such a great job. When he watched it, he believed he was there and in the moment. It also snowed during the shoot, which added a “cool, nuclear vibe” to the entire episode.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, in The 100, Bellamy and Octavia will be separated again. The showrunner explained that he felt it was necessary to split them up once again. However, he teased that they might be in very different places when Season 5 premieres. In Rothenberg’s newest interview, it is revealed that the Season 4 finale starts off with a beautiful moment between the siblings.

“This season, in many ways, was about Bellamy being able to let go and recognize that his sister is her own woman and that she doesn’t necessarily need him to be his sister’s keeper anymore. For Octavia to realize how much she does love him is really cool, as these are now two people who are almost talking to each other for the first time as equals. It’s an important jumping-off point for the episode.”

Since tonight’s episode is the season finale, it is expected that at least one character will die. TV Guide posted a new sneak peek of “Praimfaya.” Raven Reyes is seen telling the others everything that is wrong and how they could all die. She mentions there not being enough CO2 scrubbers, having to get the oxygen generator, and making a 2-person cockpit fit eight survivors. They also only have 90 minutes to do a pre-flight check, which typically runs about six hours. After listening to what Raven had to say, Bellamy Blake asks her to tell them what is needed to ensure their survival. Knowing Raven, she will have an answer because their lives depend on it.
