Kim Woo Bin Receiving Treatment For Rare Type Of Head And Neck Cancer, Shin Min Ah’s Camp Responds
Kim Woo Bin and Sidus HQ revealed that the Uncontrollably Fond actor has nasopharyngeal cancer. The actor’s agency released a statement informing the public about the Hallyu star’s medical condition. Woo Bin’s cancer is still in its early stages, and he is currently receiving treatment for his condition.
In a shocking statement, Kim Woo Bin’s agency announced that the actor has been diagnosed with cancer. The statement revealed that the actor visited the hospital lately after experiencing abnormal symptoms. Based on the findings, the actor has nasopharyngeal cancer. Since the cancer is still in its early stages, the actor will not waste time and undergo treatment right away. Through the statement, the actor assured his fans and supporters that he is paying attention to his health.
“While carrying out his various schedules, Kim Woo Bin felt abnormalities in his body and visited a hospital, being diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer. Fortunately, it is still in its early stages, so he has begun receiving drug treatment and radiation therapy. He plans on focusing on his treatment for now before greeting you with a recovered, healthy image, so please wish for his speedy convalescence.”
The actor’s agency lost no time in informing the public since they know a lot of people will be worried about Woo Bin’s condition. Nasopharyngeal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the pharynx which is located just behind the nose. Among the risk factors for this type of cancer includes having Asian or Chinese ancestry, exposure to Epstein-Barr virus, and drinking large amounts of alcohol. Asians are six times more likely to suffer from this type of cancer compared to Hispanics and Whites. This type of head and neck cancer is quite uncommon and only one out of 100,000 people are diagnosed with this type of cancer every year.
Kim Woo Bin’s Current Projects
Kim Woo Bin had several engagements lined up, and based on the statement of his agency; they need to make changes to accommodate the actor’s treatment. Back in April, Woo Bin was named as the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics promotional ambassador. The actor is supposed to be part of promotional events in Korea and abroad for the said event.
Kim Woo Bin is also part of the cast for the action movie Wiretap where the actor plays the role of a righteous traffic cop involved in a secret operation. In light of the latest news about Kim Woo Bin’s health, the actor’s girlfriend Shin Min Ah also released a statement. According to the actress, she is “currently helping Kim Woo Bin get better while he’s under treatment.”

While there are rumors suggesting that the couple already broke up, the two were spotted dating back in April.
