Watch Ajax Vs. Manchester United UEFA Europa League Final Live Stream: Start Time, Preview, Streaming Info

Two days after a devastating terrorist attack in Manchester, the city’s legendary team, Manchester United, will attempt to provide some sort of useful distraction for the stricken city when they face Dutch giants AFC Ajax in the 2017 UEFA Europa League Final which will live stream from Sweden on Wednesday.

“What happened yesterday in Manchester was something that we all feel. On behalf of the players, staff and everyone at Ajax, we would like to express our sympathy with the victims that unfortunately fell,” Ajax Manager Peter Bosz said on Tuesday. “The feeling that prevails for me is that the final doesn’t have this glow that it should have. Tomorrow evening should be a football feast, but because of the events in Manchester we are all affected.”

A moment of silence to honor the 22 slain and 59 wounded victims of the suicide bombing attack will precede the game, as Manchester hold vigils in the streets to honor the fallen. The attack struck a pop music concert by Ariana Grande at Manchester Arena on Monday, an event attended by many young children and their parents.

For Manchester United and Manager Jose Mourinho, who ended a sluggish season in sixth place on the Premier League table, the Europa League final takes on a massive importance. Not only is it the club’s chance to end the season on a positive note and to win the Europa League for the first time in club history — winning the only major trophy that Manchester United has never claimed — but a victory would give United an automatic berth in next season’s UEFA Champions League, despite finishing two places behind the top four.

Ajax, on the other hand, has less at stake — their second-place finish in the Dutch Eredivisie already guaranteeing them a Champions League spot next season. While Ajax has never won the Europa Cup, they won its predecessor tournament, the UEFA Cup, in 1992.

Can Manchester United end their largely disappointing season on a high note, winning their first UEFA Europa League title and securing a place in next season’s Champions League in the process? Or will AFC Ajax who have already earned a Champions League place next season cap off their campaign with their first second-tier European cup since 1992?
