Jenelle Evans Is ‘Nervous’ And ‘Scared’ Ahead Of Custody Battle, Is She Getting Jace Back?
Jenelle Evans is headed back to court in hopes of regaining custody of her oldest child, 7-year-old Jace.
According to a new tweet, the Teen Mom 2 star and her mother are set to go head-to-head on Wednesday, May 24, with Jenelle Evans wanting more time with her son and Barbara Evans hoping to retain full custody of the child.
“I’m very nervous and scared but ready to get Jace’s final court date dealt with!” Jenelle Evans wrote to fans on Twitter on May 20.
Jenelle Evans’ mother was given full custody of Jace shortly after his birth because the reality star was unfit to care for him. In addition to struggling with financial hardships after getting pregnant as a teen, Jenelle Evans also dealt with past drug addiction and became known for her revolving door of men. However, in recent years, Jenelle Evans has seemingly settled down and feels she should now have Jace full time.
Unfortunately, Barbara Evans doesn’t seem convinced that uprooting Jace from the home he’s known since birth is a good idea and also appears to have concerns about Jenelle Evans’ fiancé, David Eason, who she was seen fighting with during a past season of Teen Mom 2.
Jenelle Evans and her mother have been at odds for several years and earlier this month, the reality star was forced to spend Mother’s Day without her oldest child.
Over the holiday weekend, Jenelle Evans took to Twitter to vent about her mother and how she kept Jace from her and noted that she instead spent her special day with her soon-to-be-husband, David Eason, and her youngest two children, 2-year-old Kaiser and 4-month-old Ensley.
During an interview earlier this year, Jenelle Evans opened up about juggling her parenting duties to her three children and making sure that everyone feels included.
“I make sure that I get Jace every weekend and have Kaiser every other weekend,” she explained to E! News. “During that time, [Jace] is constantly around all the kids and family until he goes back to my mom’s on Sunday nights. I have also been trying to take family photos lately of everyone together. I don’t want anyone to feel excluded from our family.”
Jenelle Evans went on to address her ongoing custody battle with her mother and insisted that her son isn’t stuck in between them.
“Jace doesn’t have a ‘side.’ He loves me and my mother equally and that will never change,” she said. “I’m ok with that, too. I tell Jace and explain that me and my mom try to get along, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. I don’t argue or even raise my voice in front of him anymore. If she makes me frustrated, I’ll simply hang up—no need for all of that extra stress.”
Jenelle Evans also credited her issues with her mother to jealousy.
“My mom is still not wanting to give up her grudge against any guy I date,” Jenelle Evans told E! News. “David has never done anything wrong to her and still doesn’t really speak to her to this day, even though he disagrees with a lot of things she believes. I have no idea why my mom feels this way towards David, but I’m thinking it might be a jealously [sic] issue. My mom claims I never ‘hang out’ with her when I date someone.”
Jenelle Evans and her family, including fiancé David Eason and their kids, are currently in production on Teen Mom 2 Season 8.
