Lucy Hale On Her Favorite ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Props And Her New Show ‘Life Sentence’

Pretty Little Liars may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean Lucy Hale is disappearing from the small screen. Fans of the show will be ecstatic to know that Hale’s new series, Life Sentence, was recently picked up by the CW and will be a new show this fall. That means we won’t have to spend as much time missing her as we thought.

Lucy Hale recently spilled on some of her favorite items from the Pretty Little Liars set. While many actors often steal items here and there as a memento, Hale revealed that it was nearly impossible to do on the set of PLL.

“I’m a rule follower and I was nervous. Even the pens and candlesticks are barcoded! If you stole something, they would know.”

But Hale did reveal that she always had her eye on one of the props and knowing that, the crew gave it to her as a wrap gift.

“There is a poster I always really wanted from Ezra’s apartment and they gave it to me as a wrap gift. So now it is hanging up in my house,” she said.

Knowing that most of her fans on Pretty Little Liars are teen girls, Lucy took a moment to acknowledge them and their potential to change the world. She reflected on a Harry Styles interview in which he asked why people think it is negative to have teen girls as your fan base.

“Isn’t that funny? It’s always viewed that way! And especially young women now, this generation—girls my age too, but even younger than I am—they’re the ones that are going to change the world. They’ve grown up in such a new way of thinking about women and female empowerment. I grew up with a little bit of that, but teenagers now, those are the girls that are going to make the world a different place for everyone else. That’s so cool that he said that! I 100 percent agree,” she said.

The star’s new show, Life Sentence, is already receiving some positive buzz from fans of Pretty Little Liars. It centers around Hale’s character, a young woman diagnosed with terminal cancer and all of the crazy and bizarre choices she makes knowing she’s about to die. When she finds out that she was misdiagnosed and she is going to live after all, she must live with all of the choices she has just made.

But the choices don’t just affect Stella, the main character. Stella’s sister admits that she gave up her full ride to Columbia because she wanted to help take care of her sister and her parents finally fess up to the fact that they decided to stay together not because they wanted their relationship to necessarily work out, but because they didn’t want breaking up to affect their daughter’s health. While this show might not get as dark as Pretty Little Liars, it will certainly be a bit of a tear jerker.

Hale also opened up on the pressure she faces knowing the young women who may just change the world are looking up to her to see what the next move she makes will be.

“I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t pressure. But I’ve always wanted to be myself. I don’t make my decisions based on what my Instagram followers are going to think—that would be a miserable life. You have to do things for yourself. And being in the public eye, it’s a little different. I had to grow up and make my mistakes and certain decisions in the public eye. And luckily I’ve sort of kept it together! I’m at a place now where I’ve figured out who I am and what I stand for, and that’s maybe why people do look up to me in a way. I don’t shy away from anything. I try to talk about how I really feel. That’s why I think people like Demi Lovato are so cool. She is who she is, and that’s why she’s such a great role model. People don’t want to hear bullshit. Real people aren’t perfect; they fall down and mess up and screw up. Those are the kind of people that I look to, and I’ve always aspired to just be authentic.”

CW recently released a trailer of the series.
