Adam Levine: Honey Boo Boo Signfies ‘Decay Of Western Civilization’
Maroon 5 front-man and The Voice judge Adam Levine can’t stand Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and says the show’s popularity is evidence of the fact that we are headed toward our end as a civilization.
During an interview with GQ Magazine, the heavily-tattooed musician and occasional (bad) actor criticized Honey Boo Boo and the TLC entertainment gold mine built on top of the 7-year-old’s shoulders. Levine points to the show, saying that it signifies the “decay of Western civilization.”
“Seriously, Honey Boo Boo is the decay of Western civilization. Just because so many people watch the show doesn’t mean it’s good,” says Levine. “So many people witness atrocities and can’t take their eyes away from them, but that doesn’t mean they’re good. That show is literally The. Worst. Thing. That’s. Ever. Happened.”
He continues:
“It’s complete f-cking ignorance and the most despicable way to treat your kids. F-ck those people. You can put that in the magazine: F-ck those idiots. They’re just the worst. Sorry, I’m so sensitive to that — like, I don’t know, man, it’s upsetting. Just to clarify, I said, ‘F-ck those people!'”
Tell us how you really feel! Though Honey Boo Boo has many celebrity fans including Tina Fey, Anderson Cooper, and Miley Cyrus, the Thompson crew is not without their celebrity detractors. Levine joins The View’s Joy Behar, who told The Huffington Post that she’s not exactly taken with the TLC phenomenon, either:
“What’s little Honey Boo Boo going to grow up to be?” Behar asked. “She’s going to be a fat kid; she’s going to grow up to be a big fat woman. She is, I can tell. She’s just a kid, but you see the genetics are right there. She’s going to have large boob boobs — Honey Boobs Boobs.”
