Roger Ailes Dead At 77 Years Old: Wife Elizabeth Tilson ‘Drudge Report’ Quote Has No Cause Of Death For Ailes

The former head of Fox News, Roger Ailes, is dead at 77 years of age, as reported by NBC 24. Ailes’ wife, Elizabeth Tilson, issued a statement about the death of Ailes that can currently be viewed on the Drudge Report and below, with the Drudge Report’s headline blaring, “Roger Ailes Dead” on the front page of the publication. According to TMZ, the cause of death of Ailes could be attributed to a fall that Roger suffered eight days ago at home wherein Ailes hit his head, with his health plummeting after that point until his death.

"Statement from Elizabeth Ailes: I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning. Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise—and to give back. During a career that stretched over more than five decades, his work in entertainment, in politics, and in news affected the lives of many millions. And so even as we mourn his death, we celebrate his life..."

The statement from Ailes’ wife Elizabeth does not list the cause of death for Roger. As seen in the above photo from July 19, 2016, Ailes and his wife Elizabeth Tilson, also known as Elizabeth Ailes, left the News Corp building in New York City.

Ailes had just celebrated his birthday on Monday, according to the Daily Mail.

The beleaguered former head of Fox News had resigned from the network less than one year ago, giving up his position at the station he founded after Ailes was embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal that involved major names in the news. As a result of the brouhaha, Ailes experienced a big fallout, with Ailes’ named being removed from hallowed places like the Ohio University WOUB newsroom, with a gift to the university being returned in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations against Ailes.

Megyn Kelly was outspoken about her alleged treatment by Roger, claiming that Ailes’ wife, Elizabeth, came to Megyn in an attempt to get Kelly to defend Roger against allegations of sexual harassment against Ailes by Gretchen Carlson, according to the Daily Mail. Kelly would not defend Ailes and eventually went on to speak out about the treatment she claims she suffered from the hands of Roger.

The publication goes on to hint at what could potentially be uncovered as the cause of death for Ailes. Roger had health problems due to hemophilia, which is defined as an ailment that reduces the ability of the blood to form clots, which could lead to severe bleeding from injuries that might not initially be that serious for someone who didn’t suffer from the affliction.

Ailes had also undergone multiple operations that would replace joints, as well as prostate surgery that caused Ailes to leave his former position for a period of time a few years ago. Ailes was notably seen having trouble walking, and it was reported that Roger rarely left his executive suite.

According to Google’s suggestions, searches for Ailes’ net worth and ties to President Donald Trump are common search terms. As reported by Fortune, Trump’s advisers allegedly helped Ailes in targeting Roger’s enemies.

Meanwhile, reactions to the death of Ailes on social media can be read below.

“Roger Ailes did irreparable harm to America’s political psyche.”

“Seems like Roger Ailes might have been better off dying a year ago.”

“Seeing a lot of diminishment of Roger Ailes. He was a terrible person. He did terrible things.”

“Roger Ailes…Russia did it!”

“Pardon me if I don’t mourn the death of Roger Ailes. He was a bad man who made the lives of countless women miserable.”
