‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Advert Promises ‘The Most Shocking’ Reveal In Franchise History

A brand new poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been released in Japan, and it not only gives fans some snapshots from the trailer, but it also features a brand new blurb for the blockbuster that has promised it will include “the most shocking” revelation in the history of the franchise. “The Most Shocking Truth In Star Wars History Will Soon Be Revealed!

“A new generation’s tale of the struggles of light and dark, virtue and evil has begun with the death of Han Solo. In a Galaxy where First Order and the Resistance are fighting against each other in a war, the heroine, Rey, had the Force awaken within her.

“What will happen to the galaxy when Rey and the only remaining Jedi knight, Luke Skywalker, meet? Kylo Ren has fallen to the Dark Side of the Force and killed his father, Han Solo. As a successor of his grandfather, Darth Vader, and a high ranking enforcer in the First Order, where will his ambition lead him to?

“Furthermore, Kylo Ren’s mother, the leader of the Resistance, Leia, Poe, Finn, and BB-8, will embark on a new mission! The story has finally begun and it will lead to a mysterious climax!

“December 15. Be ready for the shocking truth surpassing the previous stories!”

The good folks over at Star Wars Net managed to get their hands on the promotional material, which they describe as a leaflet, while they were even able to get it translated. Once they read it they were surprised to learn that the advert teased a revelation in The Last Jedi that will rank right up there with Darth Vader killing Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope, Kylo Ren murdering his father, Han Solo, in The Force Awakens, and the revelation that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker’s father in Empire Strikes Back.

That’s a pretty dramatic and big promise for the poster to make, and the fact that they make it twice means that they are adamant it will be the case. However, what could the huge Star Wars reveal actually be? There are quite a few options considering just how mysterious some of the characters still are. It could have something to do with Rey’s parentage, which has been heavily speculated about ever since she was first announced. Alternatively, it could even have something to do with why Luke Skywalker disappeared for all those years after Kylo Ren turned to the dark side.

We are also still in the dark about Emperor Snoke’s past and identity, too, while The Last Jedi will also introduce Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern into the mix, and we don’t have a clue about the characters they will be playing. There’s every chance that the reveal could revolve around Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia, or Chewbacca, R2-D2, or even C3PO, too.

There’s also a chance that the information provided in the leaflet isn’t 100% inline with the promotional message that Lucasfilm and writer and director Rian Johnson has for The Last Jedi. There are a few other issues, too, as the font and color of the logo is for The Force Awakens and not The Last Jedi, while Lucasfilm’s official logo isn’t anywhere on the poster, all of which suggests that it might not have the full backing of those involved. Still it undoubtedly only adds to the excitement and hype surrounding Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is now less than 7 months away from release. In fact, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
