Lily-Rose Depp On Growing Up In Johnny Depp’s Shadow

Lily-Rose Depp is only 17-years-old, but she’s determined to break free from living in her father Johnny Depp’s shadow.

With an already successful career in the modeling business, Lily-Rose Depp – the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis – is slowly penetrating the big screens of Hollywood.

But Lily-Rose Depp insists in her new candid interview with Hello! magazine that life in the public eye was never her goal and it’s not even her thing.

Lily-Rose Depp, who says she is not here to be “known,” is seemingly distancing herself from the highly-publicized extravagant lifestyle of her debt-ridden dad Johnny Depp, whose finances have come under increased scrutiny lately after revelations that he used to spend $2 million per month.

But Lily-Rose Depp wants nothing of it, and insists that she is “just trying to live my dream of being an actress.” And being the daughter of one of the most famous actors of this century does not necessarily mean having the magic ticket that lands you any roles in the world you want.

Lily-Rose Depp assures that she puts “so much pressure on myself” and she knows that “nothing falls from heaven.” And her father Johnny Depp, who has struggled with financial problems for months now, probably knows this better than anyone else.

Lily-Rose Depp, who boasts nearly three million followers on Instagram, says that she had to “learn to live in the public eye,” because she was introduced to social media at a young age.

But Lily-Rose Depp argues that just because people see her wear elegant dresses at red carpet events, hang out with famous celebs, and posts Instagram photos showing off her extravagant lifestyle doesn’t mean they actually know who she is.

“People have the impression they know who I am.”

While Johnny Depp makes rare appearances on Lily-Rose Depp’s Instagram account, the 17-year-old seems to be obsessed with her mother, singer and model Vanessa Paradis.

On Monday, the aspiring model and actress shared a throwback photo of her mother from her teenager days – and the teenage Paradis bears a striking resemblance to her daughter in 2017.

Lily-Rose Depp, who was recently announced as the face of Chanel’s new fragrance, No. 5 L’Eau, says the campaign video filmed to advertise the fragrance had an idea that spoke to her.

And that idea was rather paradoxical: “You know me but you really don’t.” In the Chanel film, which was released in October last year, Lily-Rose Depp appears as multiple different characters with completely different lifestyles.

Lily-Rose Depp, who was named by Karl Lagerfeld himself the new “It” girl, says it was the role of a singer that spoke to her the most.

“I no longer have any desire to be a singer in real life, so it was so much fun to be a pretend one.”

Lily-Rose Depp describes herself as “very secretive, very discreet” and “a homebody” who doesn’t really go out much.

“More and more, I want to keep my life to myself.”

Lily-Rose Depp will have to go out soon and do the thing that she claims she is not really comfortable with – being in the spotlight – when the only daughter of Johnny Depp shows up on the red carpet at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

The Cannes will unroll its red carpet on Wednesday night, and Lily-Rose Depp seemingly gave a preview of her wardrobe for the film festival when she arrived in Nice Airport on Wednesday morning sporting a pair of futuristic sunglasses, according to Vogue.

The Cannes Film Festival 2017 will run from May 17 through May 28.
