Peta Murgatroyd Talks Baby Shai’s Role In Her Wedding, Plus Will Maksim Chmerkovskiy Have A Bachelor Party?

Peta Murgatroyd is ready to tie the knot with longtime love Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but she still has a few loose ends to tie up before the big day, and that includes deciding how she will incorporate the couple’s newborn son into the ceremony. In a new interview with People, Murgatroyd said she thinks it’s amazing that her 4-month-old son, Shai Aleksander, will be able to witness his parents’ wedding ceremony, even if he’s too young to understand what’s going on.

“We broke tradition by having a baby before marriage,” Peta told People. “But I think it’s amazing that he’ll be there.”

Murgatroyd went on to say that her little boy will take his own walk down the aisle—with a little help from family.

“I think that he’s going to be carried down the aisle by a family member,” Peta revealed.

“He’ll be there to watch us get married — and hopefully not cry!”

Maksim and Peta had previously teased to Extra that their baby would be a “little, tiny ring bearer” for the ceremony, and now she confirms that Shai may actually help present the rings at the ceremony.

“I don’t know how much he’s going to be able to hold them, but on a pillow or something — he might be able to do that by then,” Murgatroyd said.

While little Shai will be on hand for his parents’ wedding vows, Murgatroyd admits she doesn’t really think the reception will be a suitable place for a baby.

“At some point, he’s obviously going to have to take a nap,” Peta said.

“I would prefer that he wasn’t at the reception area because there are going to be way too many people and they’ll be drunk, running around being crazy. I think it’s the best if he’s away from all that with the nanny for the night.”

Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have already given fans some key details about their wedding, which will take place in July. Maks previously revealed the couple would get married at the historic Oheka Castle in New York. The Ukrainian pro dancer said he has been eyeing the site since he was a teenager and that he had always wanted to get married there.

While Peta had always envisioned that she would get married in a church, Maks won this battle once Peta laid eyes on the historic estate.

“My jaw dropped when I first saw it,” Murgatroyd told People.

“Maks has loved this place for years and I took on the suggestion and I fell in love with it immediately. It’s a whole castle estate with a golf course around it. The drive up to this gate alone is spectacular. It is so regal and royal.”

Peta added that she is looking forward to posing for wedding pictures on the grounds at the popular Long Island wedding venue.

“Photos are the things you can hold on to for forever, so I wanted our photos to be spectacular and the grounds on this estate are just phenomenal,” Murgatroyd said. “I think we are going to have some beautiful shots.”

Of course, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have some other celebrating to do before they say “I do.” Maks’ brother, fellow Dancing With the Stars pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy, told E! News he hasn’t made a lot of plans yet for a bachelor party for his big brother because their whole life has been one big party. However, Val also revealed that Peta has already made it clear she wants all the details regarding any type of boys’ night out for Maks.

“Peta already called me about that,” Val told E! “She wants to know all the plans for the bachelor party. But I have very few plans. Our entire life has been one big bachelor party, so it’s nice to celebrate the wedding and celebrate family and each other and two incredible people coming together.”
