Madonna Stuns Instagram With Naked Selfie — Is She Trying To Keep Up With The Kardashians?

Madonna is making 58-years-old look good. The iconic pop superstar posted a nude selfie to the delight of her legions of fans. The “Material Girl” singer posted a slideshow of revealing photos on Instagram. In the first one we don’t see much, but she does look like she’s wearing a grill and is nude from the waist up.

In the second photo, we see more skin as she’s showing off the lower part of her breasts and butt. She captioned the photos with one word: “Gold.”

As you can imagine, her fans loved the photos. But while the images pleased her fans, some critics are saying that the icon may be doing too much to try to stay relevant to a younger audience. So much so that it looks like she’s taking a page out of the Kardashian playbook.

But that doesn’t ring true when you consider Madonna’s track record with being photographed nude during her career. As Heavy notes, in 1990 Madonna published a book called Sex, which contained artful photos of her doing the deed with other celebrities like Naomi Campbell, Big Daddy Kane, Isabella Rosselini, and Vanilla Ice.

The publication of Sex sent shockwaves around the world, but despite the hype it got, it also got lots of negative reviews. Madonna responded at the time by making a great case for sexual freedom.

“I don’t think sex is bad. I don’t think nudity is bad. I don’t think that being in touch with your sexuality and being able to talk about it is bad. I think the problem is that everybody’s so uptight about it and have turned it into something bad when it isn’t. If people could talk about it freely, we would have more people practicing safe sex, we wouldn’t have people sexually abusing each other.”

If anything, the Kardashians are taking a page out of Madonna’s playbook that she established in the 1980s with the release of “Like A Virgin.”

Unlike the Kardashians, Madonna ties her penchant for nudity to activism. As Us Weekly noted in 2015, she called out Instagram for its arbitrary censorship rules.

“Why is it ok to show a** but not breasts? Drowning in the hypocrisy of social media,” she wrote under an nude photo of herself with a black bar over her nipples.

In May of last year, she wore a very revealing outfit to the Met Gala where her breasts and backside were just covered with lace. At the time, she said that the choice of the design was a political one.

“When it comes to women’s rights, we are still in the dark ages,” she wrote in an Instagram post about the dress.”The fact that people actually believe a woman is not allowed to express her sexuality and be adventurous past a certain age is proof that we still live in an age-ist and sexist society. I have never thought in a limited way and I’m not going to start.”

Madonna’s legacy could be cemented even further if news of a new biopic ends up being true. According to The Sun, Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter, is a top choice to play her in the film. The alleged working title of the film is Blonde Ambition. Unfortunately, Madge isn’t happy about it mostly because she isn’t involved in the production.

“Madonna is not supporting the film yet but the makers are hoping to cast someone who she will love,” reported The Sun.

“At the moment they are in talks with Paris. If she agrees it will be a massive coup for producers as Madonna is a big fan of Paris,” the source added.
