Seth MacFarlane Discusses ‘Family Guy’ Movie

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has confirmed that he is currently working on a movie version of his hit animated comedy series.

MacFarlane was attending an event at UCLA, that publicised a contest to give university students the chance to join him on stage at the Oscars next year, a ceremony he is hosting, when he was asked about a Family Guy movie. To which he responded, “It’s just a matter of when.”

“The Simpsons Movie, I thought, was hilarious, but the one criticism I would have is that it’s a story they probably could’ve done on TV,” added the writer.”That’s the challenge with animation. You pretty much can do any story you want, so what is the reason for the movie? We finally hit on the answer to that question, and it will be something that would be impossible to do on TV.”

As you would expect, MacFarlane didn’t reveal any of the plot’s details, saying, “I can’t tell you what that is.”

2013’s Oscars ceremony promises to introduce audiences to the future of filmmaking, with the telecast’s producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, explaining, “In re-imagining what we want the Oscar show to be, we wanted everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film and its legacy, and most importantly, its future.”

The Oscar Experience College Search is a national search for the next generation of Oscar hopefuls, and the winners of the prize will appear live on stage to deliver Oscar statuettes to the presenters.
