Brandon Marshall: Some NFL Players Use Viagra During Games

Could taking Viagra during a professional football game give a whole new definition to the term “red zone”?

A number of NFL players (and MLB players) have been hit with suspensions recently for using Adderal, an amphetamine, as a stimulant. Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall, however, provided an interesting twist today on the performance enhancing drug controversy in professional sports and the NFL in particular.

Chicago Tribune reporter Brad Biggs was on the scene when Marshall offered these remarks about another performance enhancer:

“I don’t know too much about Adderall. I know guys, it is such a competitive league, guys try anything just to get that edge. I’m fortunate enough to be blessed with size and some smarts to give me my edge. But some guys, they’ll do whatever they can to get an edge. I’ve heard of some crazy stories. I’ve heard (of) guys using like Viagra, seriously. Because the blood is supposedly thin, some crazy stuff. So, you know, it’s kind of scary with some of these chemicals that are in some of these things so you have to be careful.”

Do you think it’s plausible that NFL players take the little blue pill during games to obtain “an edge”?

With that in mind, Yahoo! News quips that “if your two-minute drill lasts more than four hours, consult a doctor.”
