Ben Savage And Danielle Fishel Officially Sign On For ‘Girl Meets World’

Well, it seems as though Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are coming to a television set near you. Both co-stars, who reached their height of stardom on the ABC sitcom, Boy Meets World, have officially signed up to join forces for the show’s spin-off series Girl Meets World for Disney!

For anyone who grew up in the 90s, given your particular stance on spin-off television series, this is either the best or worst news you will hear today. Rumors started a few weeks ago about the possibility of Savage and Fishel signing on for the spin-off series. Now TVLine has made it official, announcing that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are joining the series as their original characters Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence.

Even though the pilot is still said to be at the early stages of development, Boy Meets World’s creator Michal Jacobs will be at the helm. In the new series, Cory and Topanga will be teaching their 13-year-old daughter Riley the lessons of life. It is said that daughter Riley will also have a troubled, wayward friend, who very much sounds like Cory’s old friend Shawn Hunter, played by Rider Strong.

So far there’s a nationwide casting for the perfect Riley Matthews. As of right now there’s no word on whether or not more originals such as William Russ or Will Friedle will return. As of late, William Daniels has had a lot of success off of the show. He recently wrapped up on a touching arc on Grey’s Anatomy, playing Dr. Cristina Yang’s colleague and mentor.
