Foxwoods Casino Brawl: Fight Involving Close To 100 People Breaks Out At Connecticut Casino

Mashantucket, CT — A casino brawl involving a mob of nearly 100 people led to the arrests of two men at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods on Sunday.

According to police reports, the fight erupted just after 2:30 am Sunday, inside the Shine nightclub at the MGM Grand and spilled out into the lobby of the casino. Due to the size of the fight — the Norwich Bulletin notes that 80 to 100 people were involved — early responders were forced to call for backup from state police.

The CTPost reports that authorities arrived at the scene of the brawl and arrested Wakyne A. Sebastian of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Reservation, and Macharia Johnson of Everett, Massachusetts. Both men were charged with breach of peace and interfering with police in connection with the Sunday morning melee.

After the fighting was contained, police say the 38-year-old Johnson was involved in a separate incident inside Foxwoods Resort Casino that involved a knife.

Police say the knife incident included some of the same individuals from the brawl and that more arrests are pending. There are no details on what might have started the fight.

Both Sebastian and Johnson are due in court in December.

Foxwoods Resort Casino is a hotel-casino in Ledyard, Connecticut on the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Reservation, Wikipedia notes.

Together with the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, it is one of the largest casino complexes in the world, boasting 4,700,00 sq feet of gaming space, 6,300 slot machines and more than 380 gaming tables.
