Miley Cyrus turns 20 on November 23, 2012, according to the folks at the Examiner. Although the former Disney darling may seem a little older than her years, she's still 12 months away from being able to legally drink in the United States.
In case you hadn't already heard, the actress is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Although she was given the name Destiny Hope, the family began calling her "Smiley" since she often smiled a lot as a baby. The name was later shortened to Miley.
E! Online reports that, in honor of the singer's big day, the folks at PETA decided to sponsor a pig named Nora is Miley's honor. Since she spends so much time supporting animal rights, the gift seems appropriate.
"PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals," PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman explained. "From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place."
Not surprisingly, Miley Cyrus celebrated 20 years on the planet by posting a few comments on Twitter. Her fans, it would seem, had not forgotten about the singer's birthday.
"So much BIRFFFDAY love!" Cyrus wrote. "i wish everyday was like this."
According to Access Hollywood, the former Hannah Montana wasn't the only celebrity celebrating a birthday on November 23. New mom and Jersey Shore veteran Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi turned 25 today, an event she also shared with her legion of Twitter followers.
"Best Birthday ever with my fiance @JLaValle and Lorenzo," Snooki wrote on the micro-blogging website.
Fans of actress are no doubt sending the actress plenty of love on her birthday. Will you celebrate the fact that Miley Cyrus turns 20 today?
