Chris Evert ‘CSI’ Appearance Scheduled For January
Former tennis player Chris Evert will make a guest appearance on a forthcoming edition of CSI, according to a statement released by CBS. The special episode is set to air in January.
The unlikely combination of retired tennis stars and implausibly solved crime won’t stop there: Chris Evert’s CSI debut will also feature former tennis pros Lindsay Davenport and Justin Gimelstob. All three retired players will play themselves in the show, which will see CSI‘s regular cast investigating the death of a female professional tennis player.
It is perhaps Evert’s name that will be recognizable to most. The 57-year-old won an imperious 18 Grand Slam singles titles, including seven French Opens, three Wimbledons and six US Opens. She’s also the only professional player to have ever won more than 90% of the singles matches she played. By the end of her career in 1989, she had triumphed in 90.05% of the matches she played.
Davenport is no slouch either. Also a former world no. 1 and a gold medalist during the 1996 Olympics, she clinched three Grand Slam titles.
Justin Gimelstob’s career is, admittedly, a little less weighed down by trophies, but we’re sure he’s a lovely man. Oh, and he’s a tennis commentator on CBS’ This Morning.
Will the unlikely trio be as confident in front of the camera as they were on court/at tennis commentary? The history of sports stars appearing on TV and in films has not always been a happy one, but this is CSI: nobody, in short, is expecting Raging Bull.
The Chris Evert CSI appearance has sparked much excitement amongst the tennis star’s 25,000 Twitter followers. Evert took to Twitter with the news on Monday, announcing:

CSI entered its 13th season this year, and continues to focus on suspiciously good-looking Las Vegas detectives who solve gruesome crimes. William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger and Jorja Fox all star in the show.
