‘The Hobbit’ Gets A Nearly 8-Minute Trailer [Video]

Are you anxiously awaiting the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey? Here’s a nearly 8-minute trailer that should hold you over for a little while longer.

Bleeding Cool and The Mary Sue report that some Hobbit-crazed fan with a lot of time on his hands took the time to collect all of the footage from TV spots, trailers, and exclusive online footage and re-cut them together in what appears to be chronological order. There are a few editing hiccups in the trailer, but it definitely and faithfully contains all we’ve seen thus far from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in a lengthy trailer that’s about as long as the film itself will be (in relative terms).

Here’s a partial synopsis of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey via ComicBookMovie:

“The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

“Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum.”

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will hit theaters December 14, 2012. Here’s the 8-minute fan trailer, showing all released footage thus far:
