Kanye West, Bruce Springteen, Paul McCartney Leads ’12-12-12′ Hurricane Sandy Benefit

Weeks after NBC pulled together a last minute benefit featuring New York residents including Christina Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen, and Jon Bon Jovi, another bevy of top acts will be pulling together to aid in an additional benefit for Hurricane Sandy.

The benefit for Hurricane Sandy will feature the likes of Paul McCartney, Bruce Sprinsteen, the Who, Kanye West, and Billy Joel, who will lead in a top of the tops concert featuring “a showcase of music royalty.” The benefit which will also feature performances by Roger Waters, Alicia Keys, and more, will take place on December 12, in New York City’s very own Madison Square Garden.

The benefit, which is being put together by film mogul Harvey Weinstein, said in a statement following the announcement:

“The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Hurricane Sandy has been nothing short of astounding. We expect to announce additional legendary performers in the near future and we are confident that the event will ensure those in need will not be forgotten, and vital aid will be directed to rebuilding our communities along the East Coast.”

The proceeds for the new benefit will go to Robin Hood Relief, which is an organization that works hand-in-hand with organizations that aid to serve the tri-state areas who were hit the hardest by Sandy, which have been the Rockaways and Staten Island. In full, the benefit is said to be organized by not only the Weinstein Company, but Clear Channel, and the Madison Square Garden as well.

Information on how to buy tickets will be released in the next couple of days.
