Hope Solo, Jerramy Stevens Wed After Domestic Violence Incident

Just 24 hours after former NFL player Jerramy Stevens was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his bride-to-be Hope Solo, the two tied the knot in a small ceremony near Snohomish, Washington, ESPN is reporting.

According to Seattle’s KING5 News, Stevens, 33, and Solo, 31 wed in an intimate ceremony Tuesday that guests in attendance described as “beautiful.”

Jillian Loyden, an alternate goalie on the US national team that Solo played on, confirmed the wedding in a Twitter post which read:

Happy to witness such an amazing celebration of real love #selflesslove #fewandfarbetween

Dave Mahler, a sports-talk radio host on Seattle’s KJR, also tweeted:

“Confirmed: Jerramy Stevens and Hope Solo were married tonight. Events of yesterday morning didn’t change plans. Sounds like more facts comin.”

While there was no record of a marriage certificate on file with the King County Recorder’s Office on Wednesday, ABC 15 reports that the couple applied for a marriage license earlier this month, and it can take up to 30 days for paperwork to be properly processed.

Despite the happiness expressed by the couple’s close family and friends, many fans of Hope Solo were quick to voice their disapproval of the marriage.

“It’s sad that anybody married Jerramy Stevens, much less someone who has as much influence with young women as Hope Solo does,” one user posted.

Another user added:

“Hope Solo just shows again professional athletes aren’t role models. #respectyourself.”

As for Stevens’ assault case, authorities say the incident is still under investigation and charges could be brought later if prosecutors and police find other evidence.
