Peta Murgatroyd Blog Launch: ‘DWTS’ Pro Shares First Photos Of Baby Boy
They say that it takes two to tango, but three makes a party. And, the celebrity dancing couple Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are now having a blast after their first child gate-crashed into their lives last January.
Peta Murgatroyd is letting her fans take a peek of her newborn son when she posted the first photos of him on her recently launched lifestyle blog, All Things Fam & Glam. The two-time Dancing With The Stars champion and her fiancee both knew that they can only keep their newborn to themselves for so long.
Peta Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy Shares Their Precious Gift
In one of the latest entries on the blog, Peta Murgatroyd included a slideshow of some of her favorite photos of her baby boy, whom the couple named Shai Aleksander.

“So this past month and a half we’ve tried to keep Shai for ourselves, like our little secret that only we get to enjoy – but babies aren’t secrets and keeping him hidden away forever isn’t realistic or healthy,” Peta explained in the blog post. “Now, after taking as much time as we could to enjoy these precious first moments of his life, we’re finally ready to share Shai with the world.”
Murgatroyd also added that the name Shai is a Hebrew word meaning “gift.” The couple thought that the name was only fitting because for them the child was the most precious gift they received so far from God. And, since her soon-to-be husband’s family name “Chmerkovskiy” is already a mouthful, they knew it’s only practical to keep the name of their son a little shorter.
An Online Platform For Women Empowerment
Peta, a New Zealand-born Australian professional dancer, came up with her blog as she hopes to inspire other women, particularly the young mothers, on how to strike a balance between taking care of oneself and taking care of family. Murgatroyd believes that a woman’s glam need not take a backseat to having a “happy and healthy fam.”
Apart from creating a blog that will serve as an online destination to help women find that right balance between their personal and family duties, Peta also wanted the blog to be a platform wherein women can share their personal ideas and experiences.
Peta told People that in creating her new website, her hope is for women to find its content empowering and useful, especially to those who are first-time moms. She aims to produce content that would give these women some tips on how to keep the glam in their lives while going through their journey into motherhood.
The Couple Talks About Parenthood
Peta Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy talked about their experiences with their new roles as parents and some of the changes that go along with it during their TV appearance on Good Morning America on Friday, February 17, ABC News reported.
“It’s not about me anymore,” Peta said. “It’s got nothing to do with me and how I look and if I’ve got mascara on to go outside. It is all about Shai and it’s amazing. I’m okay with it.”
As for Chmerkovskiy, the situation they are now in is just life-altering. The new dad shared that he got to change the very first diaper of Shai. He also added that while he may look confident on the outside when it comes to dealing with his new responsibilities as a dad, he really is a little bit daunted.
“It’s very scary,” Chmerkovskiy said. “I find myself sort of portraying like, ‘I got this,’ and then on the inside I’m like, ‘I don’t got this. I don’t got this.'”
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are also tying the knot in a few months. They are currently working on the details of their three-day special event where they expect around 300 of their closest friends and family to be a part of.
