Freak accident requires emrgenrcy surgery for USC Running Back

This is a scary story that makes me wince even thinking about. Anyone who has ever lifted weights can understand just how scary this story really is. On Monday USC Running Back, Stafon Jackson, was lifting weights and the bar slipped from his grasp and fell on his throat. The accident required immediate emergency surgery, but it doesn’t appear that Jackson broke any bones. While he didn’t break any bones, there is damage in neck area somewhere and we will have to wait for the surgery report to understand exactly what happened to him.

Head Coach Pete Carroll and this to say to the press, “It hit him with a lot of force, and it hurt him. No broken bones as far as I understand, but he’s got some damage in there somewhere, and they’re working it out, trying to figure out what it is. … It is serious. He did get hurt, so we don’t know exactly what it is, and they’re not going to know until they go through the surgery.”

Until the extent of the damage can be worked out through the surgery there is no word on how long Jackson will be out, but it is a safe bet that he will not play this week at California.
