Chad Henne era to begin for the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins season went from pretty bad to a whole lot worse yesterday as they look to have lost starting QB Chad Pennington for the rest of the 2009 season. No Wild Cat offensive tricks, or yelling and screaming from General Manager Bill Parcells, or any celebrity ownership, is going to help make up for that loss. While the Dolphins were the most improved team of the 2008 season, it now seems like they have come back to earth a little bit.

On the first possession of the second half, Pennington was hit by San Diego Charger Line backer Kevin Burnett and threw an incomplete pass. Pennington was slow to get up and removed his jersey and his pads and was seen on the sideline with ice on the shoulder. On Monday it was revealed that Pennington has a torn capsule in his throwing should, and since this is the third problem that he has had with that shoulder his NFL career may be at an end.

Now the Dolphins will turn to Chad Henne, a second round pick from the University of Michigan. Henne is just the latest second round pick the Dolphins have used to try to replace Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino. With Rookie Pat White the only other QB on the roster, it seems likely the Dolphins will pursue a veteran free agent to help share the load.
